The Trust (GEH) is procuring a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) which will enable seamless, integrated care across the Trust and improve the safety, efficiency and quality of care. This will be a single shared instance of EPR across the three trusts of George Eliot Hospital (GEH), South Warwickshire University Foundation Trust (SWFT) and University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire, with GEH and SWFT following on with a planned Go Live in 2026 after a UHCW Go Live in June 2024. This post of an EPR Clinical Chief Information Officer (EPR CCIO) will provide the clinical leadership for the GEH EPR programme, in close collaboration with the CCIO at SWFT and within the above overarching single instance EPR governance across three trusts. They will lead and promote clinical engagement, support user centred design, support clinical safety activities and raise the profile of the programme to ultimately ensure that the new EPR is safe, it underpins quality, improves the clinician and patient experience and drives efficient delivery of care. Provide support and training to identified ward staff to deliver inhouse resus simulations on wards to further enhance the amount of exposure the staff have in delivering resuscitative care. Carry out spot checks on the wards to ensure the emergency bags documentation is being maintaind as per Trust Resuscitation policy and to escalate any concerns/breaches where necessary to the Resuscitation Officer. To support the Resuscitation Officer in refurbishing used or expired medical emergency bags ensuring available stock for wards is maintained. Liaising with the Medical Device Lead to ensure available stock of clinical consumables is maintained for bag refurbishment.

Look at current acute medicine practice and patient pathways within George Eliot Hospital and in conjunction with Clinical lead and Clinical Director further develop the service in line with best practice. Participate in ongoing development of clinical guidelines in acute medicine, audit and other key aspects of clinical governance agenda. Show flexibility and undertake different appropriate clinical tasks at the request of the Clinical Lead, as the need arises. Actively participate in the teaching programme and undertake supervision, teaching and training of medical trainees and other multi-professional staff, in line with guidance from the relevant Royal Colleges or specialty bodies. There will be the potential to continue to develop your specialty interest within or outside of Acute Medicine if the post holder has an area of expertise and it is a service requirement of the. Develop and maintain good communications with General Practitioners and appropriate external. Comply with all relevant Trust Policies and Procedures. Ensure that all trust wide standards are maintained to improve the quality of total care to all who come in contact with services provided by. Ensure compliance with all appropriate legal and statutory requirements, including Health and Safety, Standing financial Instructions and Incident. Share responsibility for data protection arising out of the use of computers. Demonstrate a firm involvement in Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Clinical Audit this will include the development and maintenance of appropriate systems and practices to ensure continued safe clinical. Take responsibility for the professional supervision and development of trainee doctors and other staff within the specialty. This will include the appraisal of doctors in training, and the Certificates of Satisfaction in respect of foundation year. Ensure own practice is up-to-date which will include taking responsibility for own Continuous Professional Development and participating in the Trusts Performance and Annual Review. Participate in the continuing professional development scheme of an appropriate medical college and the Trust & University Joint Appraisal scheme.
