A great opportunity has arisen for someone to take the next step in their career in our EPOC as a Sister/Nurse.



The EPOC unit is a 7 bedded Unit caring for higher risk elective surgical patients. Here we aim to provide an environment with a higher acuity of interventions, monitoring and nursing ratios to facilitate the highest standards of nursing care. Patients are identified pre-operatively as requiring an enhanced level of care for 24-48 hours post-operatively.



To be the nurse lead nurse for the Enhanced Perioperative Care Unit (EPOC) providing effective, professional nursing leadership and direction for the nursing workforce and the wider department team.

To be a highly competent, knowledgeable and visible practitioner setting the highest standards of care and ensuring the provision of appropriate, evidence based care for all patients/clients.

To ensure the safe, effective management of all workforce and financial resources within their clinical area.

To demonstrate an innovative and progressive attitude to continual improvement of patient care.

As part of the multi-disciplinary team, and under the supervision of the Clinical Matron, the post-holder will utilise their specialist knowledge and skills to:



Provide support to patients and staff in the delivery of high standards of patient assessment at all times, collaborate with other health care professionals as required and challenging and ensuring others challenge poor practise, in accordance with the NMC Professional code and Trust policies and procedures.



Ensure agreed systems and processes to consistently provide safe, effective, high quality care and embed a culture of improvement, focusing on the Trust’s harm-free indicators, measuring practice and using variations in the data to develop local improvement projects are in place.



Promote and maintain a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment for the patients, carers, and staff, ensuring that all are received in a professional and courteous manner.



Understand and apply the legal safeguarding framework that supports the identification of vulnerable and abused adults/children and be aware of statutory vulnerable patients’ health procedures and Trust guidance.

You will provide close support to the Local Operations Managers (LOMs) and the Local Area Manager at a station in the execution of any required administrative work.

You will be..

• Responsible for day-to-day administrative duties and any other relevant duties, as requested including HR paperwork, ad hoc reports, and gathering information for complaints.
• Undertake secretarial and administrative duties, preparing documents with a high degree of accuracy, as required by the Emergency Operational Management Team, including confidential letters and reports.
• Facilitate the planning and release of staff to attend training programmes, ensuring the appropriate numbers of instructors and students are abstracted. Inform staff of the relevant information for any training courses such as location, date and time, and update records accordingly.
• Participate in formal meetings within the area; to take notes/minutes, prepare and distribute agendas, and any other relevant papers.

• Establish and maintain office systems both paper and electronic to a high standard.
• Produce planned reports such as sickness absence monitoring information, annual leave analysis, and control room sheets and other ad hoc reports, as required.

The role of the enhanced nurse will be to work autonomously within practices and community, using enhanced clinical assessment and treatment skills to provide nurse led services, including leg ulcer clinics, home access services and long-term condition reviews. This position will involve regular travel to a variety of sites across the PCN.

Assist the qualified nurse in safely conveying and transferring all patients under the care of Prometheus. In the absence of an RMN, when a patient is informal, you must complete all paperwork required for the transfer. To provide crisis intervention to patients experiencing mental health difficulties during a transfer. To respond to emergencies during their span of duty. To ensure by attitude, approach and response the continuation of good working relationships between staff and patients throughout the transfer.
