You will serve as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist in support of criminal investigations related to Coast Guard (CG) and/or DHS programs and operations including waste, fraud, and abuse, Maritime Law Enforcement, environmental, and acquisition/procurement and contracting matters, as well as supporting administrative programs and operations.
Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include:
- Developing, monitoring and maintaining databases, including the Case Management Systems, Criminal Justice Information Service systems, SharePoint and other critical IT systems.
- Planning and performing complex IT support tasks, which include reviewing databases and data entry procedures, reviewing information systems, and/or programs and processes for economy, efficiency, and effectiveness; and determining necessary steps to maintain compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
- Performing data management and data mining tasks in support of criminal investigations, proactive initiatives, and team projects conducted by various investigative CGIS HQ and field elements; managing the flow of information and data to and from databases, across networks, inter- and intranets, and across networks of varying security domains; open Internet, Sensitive but Unclassified networks, Secret Internet Protocol Router Network, Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System and in accordance with CG, Department of Defense, and Intelligence Community directives regarding cross domain movement of information and data.
- Providing IT maintenance and IT forensics support to criminal investigators, attorneys, auditors, and evaluators in the conduct of their audits, evaluations and investigations to support a variety of matters.
- Coordinating IT and data requests from other law enforcement agencies relating to CGIS matters of interest.
- Supporting attorneys and Special Agents in using IT systems and data to further criminal investigations and prosecutions.
