We are looking for a Speech Pathologist and Occupational Therapist (full-time or part-time) to join our team so that we can better support our community. We offer flexible, family-friendly working arrangements and support our team members to work within their preferred areas of special interest.
About Sound Abilities Speech Pathology:
We're a small allied health team based on Bribie Island, and we’ve recently opened a newly renovated clinic two blocks from the waterfront. Our vision is to bring on new team members and support them to work within their areas of special interest, to ensure that we’re providing targeted and dedicated care to our local community.
We’re committed to:
- Providing effective and evidence-based therapy to clients of all ages
- Supporting our staff to develop their skills with our commitment to lifelong learning
- Providing inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming and empathetic care
- Incorporating fun and positivity into all that we do, including team activities enjoying the beautiful natural environment of our local community.
About our new team member:
We are looking for a Speech Pathologist who has a special interest in one or more of the following areas:
- receptive and expressive language skills
- neurodiversity-affirming therapy
- paediatric feeding
- dysphagia and/or adult neurological conditions (stroke, dementia, acquired brain injury, etc.)
- assessment and therapy supporting the use of augmentative and alternative communication devices.
However, if you have an area of special interest outside of these areas, or a combination of different areas, we’d still love to chat!
We are looking for a dynamic, experienced Occupational Therapist (OT), who will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our OT program. You will lead our OT program, collaborate with speech pathologists and other providers and ensure that our clients receive exceptional, individualised care. To support you in your role, you will have your own dedicated room and budget to purchase OT tools and resources. This role involves direct clinical work, as well as supervisory and administrative responsibilities.
For any new team member, it’s also important to us that you are:
- flexible in your approach to working with clients and their families, tailoring sessions to the individual
- able to build and develop collaborative relationships with clients and colleagues
- someone who enjoys making a difference and takes initiative to support their clients and families.
The roles on offer:
You will provide assessment and intervention services to clients within your preferred areas of special interest and have opportunities and support to continue developing your skills in these areas.
Tasks and responsibilities undertaken as part of these roles include:
- providing high quality, evidence-based speech pathology or occupational therapy services to clients and their families/carers
- maintaining clinical records using practice management software
- preparing reports as needed within a timely manner
- collaborating with other members of a client’s support team in order to best support the client
- participating in regular supervision and professional development.
Benefits of working with us:
At Sound Abilities Speech Pathology, we want our team members to be successful and happy in their roles. We work to provide a nurturing and supportive environment, giving you the resources, time and training you need.
In this role, you will be able to have autonomy in setting your own flexible working hours and see clients in the way that you enjoy most – whether that’s in person, via telehealth, in groups, through parent/carer coaching or a combination of these.
Some of the benefits of working for Sound Abilities include but are not limited to:
- competitive wages based on experience
- admin support to help manage your schedule and billing so you can focus on your clinical work
- flexible, family-friendly working arrangements including options of a 4-day week, 9-day fortnight or flexible start and end times
- a professional development allowance of $1,500 per annum and 3 days paid PD leave (in addition to annual leave)
- 5 weeks annual leave + leave loading + paid birthday leave
- regular clinical supervision with a senior speech pathologist or paid external supervision, depending on your area of special interest
- flexibility to work from home to undertake admin duties
- access to resources, including assessments and therapy tools, with a budget to procure preferred resources as required for your areas of special interest.
