Clerical Assistant
Juniper Green Primary School Nursery
Salary: £23,651 - £23,857 (pro-rata for part time and sessional)
Hours: 27.5 per week, 39 weeks sessional
Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 3.15pm & Friday 8.30am to 12pm
Juniper Green Primary School is a co-educational non-denominational primary school. It serves the residents of the Juniper Green, Baberton Mains and Colinton/Hailes areas of Edinburgh, a broad social mix.
The school is a modern building with excellent educational facilities. There are 14 classes and a term time only nursery. The Headteacher and two Depute Headteachers all have a teaching commitment.
The school clerical assistant post is a key part of the office team at Juniper Green. Working alongside the business manager and school administrator they will provide support for the senior team, teaching staff and pupils.
The office team are a very important and integral part of the school and ensure the smooth day to day running of the school. It is essential that the successful candidate is a team player and has excellent organisational, interpersonal, I.T. and communication skills.
The clerical assistant will take responsibility for ordering of school resources using the council procurement system, keeping the medication paperwork, health care plans and medicines up to date, working alongside the Additional Support Needs team leader to issue invitations and minutes for child planning meetings and organising trips for class teachers. Additionally there will be a variety of office tasks, answering calls, using online payments system and online records management system, operating reception and dealing with pupils and parent and staff requests in a sensitive and appropriate manner.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
