Your new role

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you'll come from an engineering or construction background and be qualified to a minimum of HNC level (or equivalent). Hold previous experience of Formal Process Safety Assessments (FPSA's) and change management. Key accountabilities

Design Manager - Who you are:

• Create DVP&R plan for setup and running a test cell for validation work.
Skills, Experience and Personal Attributes:
• Proven experience of developing electro-mechanical components within the automotive sector or similar.
• Good understanding of solid body dynamics, structures and materials, heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
• 3D CAD modelling (Solidworks desirable) and GD&T as per BS 8888.
• Essential - experience in any of the following areas, especially:-
Rotordynamics - Shaft stress analysis
Balancing

And also:-
o Computational Fluid Dynamics
o Motor drive architecture
o Motor design and/or electronic enclosures
o Electronic power device functionality/Cooling methods
o Carbon fibre/Magnet retention
• DFM/DFA/DFV.
• DFMEA.
• Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) - 3D Experience, Team Center, etc.
• Microsoft Office (Word, PPT, Excel, Projects).
• Excellent communication skills within multi-disciplinary team and with external customers.
• Self-starter, able to prioritise and plan effectively and manage own workload.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a creative approach for new ideas.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Confident in use of basic workshop tools and processes.

Your new company
A large main contractor playing a leading role in the transition to a clean energy future that works for homes and businesses nationwide. The role will be designing Above Ground Installations (AGIs) to aid the supply of gas to around 6.8 million domestic, industrial and commercial combined gas assets. Effectively allowing them to reliably and safely access the energy needed. Alongside assisting supplying pipeline repair, maintenance and intervention nationwide. Due to the growth in the company, they are now looking for a Design Coordinator.
Your new role
Your day-to-day role will be to provide technical support throughout the full process while making sure the whole process is compliant with all key legislation and technical standards. In addition to this you will be expected to attend and lead technical design meetings with contractors to track and respond to any queries that may arise. Furthermore, you will review design packs and ensure equipment is suitable for installation.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you'll come from an engineering or construction background and be qualified to a minimum of HNC level (or equivalent). Hold previous experience of Formal Process Safety Assessments (FPSA's) and change management. Experience in the above alongside being able to effectively communicate with stakeholders, legislative bodies, industry institutions and internal subject-matter experts is essential.

What will I be doing?

As a Design Manager, you will be the working underneath a Regional Design Manager and will work on a range of live projects valued between £5m and £15m as well as working on the Pre-Construction side. The likely split will be 80% live, 20% Pre-Con.
