4. MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Carry out specialist one-to-one and group interventions for behaviour change Liaise with partners to help reach target populations and communities. Monitor and evaluate outcomes through specified processes, procedures and systems. Give feedback on performance and local intelligence to lead manager and head of service. Ensure that all stakeholders receive up-to-date information on a wide range of health improvement topics. Develop, promote and co-ordinate health activities and other community engagement events to deliver health promotion and brief interventions- signposting into the One You service or partner services such as Options and Harbour. Contribute to the communications and marketing strategy Develop resources. Develop and deliver training programmes Contribute to research and development Act as a Health Champion, Making Every Contact Count. Be up-to-date with a range of health improvement topics through competency based learning. 4.1 Responsibility for People Management The post holder will be responsible for the induction of new team members. The post holder will be responsible for the line management of junior staff, providing day-to-day management and supervision, absence management and appraisal. Seek opportunities to raise awareness of health, promoting message through the Comms team and wider partners. 6. PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB This section should describe the nature, level, frequency and duration of the physical effort (sustained effort at a similar level or sudden explosive effort) required for the job. It takes account of any circumstances that may affect the degree of effort required, such as working in an awkward position or confined space. The physical skills required in the job should also be described e.g. requirements for speed and accuracy, keyboard, driving skills etc. There is likely to be frequent sitting and standing. Frequent effort to lift and manual handing of equipment. Keyboard work will be used throughout the working day The post holder will be required to maintain competencies relevant to the role. The post holder will use VDU for high proportion of time. However, all staff will be entitled to a workstation assessment and VDU check. The post holder will be required to work across a range of different community and health care settings. The service requires cover between 0800-1800 therefore some flexibility of working hours will be required to ensure the service is always covered. There will be some evening and weekend requirement. 7. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR ALL POSTS The post holder is required to comply with all relevant policies and procedures pertinent to their post. The Exeter Nuffield hospital is based next to the RD&E hospital in Wonford, Exeter. Exeter is a vibrant cathedral city in the heart of the beautiful county of Devon, situated on the river exe and only 10 miles from the coast. The hospital has 2 theatres, as well as a hybrid cardiac catheter laboratory/theatre and an Endoscopy suite. There are two ward areas: an inpatient area with 21 beds and a day-case ward with 12 beds. JOB PURPOSE The postholder will work within the Plymouth Community Dental Service PCDS to develop, implement and evaluate defined Oral Health Improvement activities. Working closely with clinicians to ensure effective and efficient delivery of oral health programmes in line with national oral health strategies such as Delivering Better Oral Health, an evidence-based toolkit. This role will undertake oral health appointments with patients of the service, including adults/children and those with additional needs or who are medically compromised and to undertake fluoride varnish application under the prescription of a clinician. SCOPE AND RANGE This post will provide a comprehensive oral health service for patients with complex needs, as well as evidence-based oral health promotion to key population groups, in line with national and local strategies for reducing inequalities in oral health. The provision of Oral Health Promotion is multifaceted, requiring a range of inter-personal, presentational, and organisational skills, as well as an understanding of the impact of social and environmental determinants of health. The ability to work independently and flexibly is an essential part of this post. Responsibility for People Management Facilitate and support with on-going staff training in oral health promotion to the wider dental team and other healthcare professionals where appropriate. Ensure oral health improvement programmes are patient focussed. Work together with peers to ensure service promoting oral health; identifying new ways of working regarding oral health promotion where necessary. Collaborate and work in partnership, developing and strengthening professional working relationships to improve oral health outcomes with other health care professionals. - Educational Support: Provide specialist support for pupils with additional needs, ensuring they can access and engage with learning activities. Assist teachers with classroom management, record-keeping, and the planning of tailored learning activities.
- Health and Medical Support: Participate in training to develop medical competencies, such as gastrostomy support, airway management, and epilepsy treatment, under the direction of nursing staff. Assist with pupil first-aid, health care plans, and routine medical support.
- Care Responsibilities: Assist with Personal Care and Risk Assessments, promote positive pupil behavior, support intimate care duties, and ensure pupil safety during all learning activities.

- Experience with SEN: Prior experience supporting children with special educational needs is preferred.

The post holder will assist registered staff within the Complex Needs team at harbour Drug and alcohol services, working under supervision, in providing support in the community for people experincing mental health and co-existing substance misues issues. The post holder will work alongside the other services and staff working with people that live complex lives in the community, where they will manage a caseload under supervision from a registered member of staff. The aim is to promote recovery from addiction and improve the health and wellbeing outcomes for individuals, linking them in with Community activities and wider supports which include improving access to activities, meaningful employment, and training. The role will require the post holder to work across the complex lives system, developing in consultation with service users flexible and realistic support packages and person-centred plans within agreed guidelines and service models.
