Medicines Information Provide evaluated medicines information and advice from a variety of sources including clinical trials and published literature to pharmacy, medical and nursing staff, allied healthcare professionals and members of the public (via the medicines helpline) at all levels to promote the safe, effective, evidence-based and economic use of medicines thus optimising individual patient therapy. Core Clinical duties (3.75-18.75 hours per week) To ensure safe rational and effective prescribing by undertaking medication reconciliation, assessing suitability of prescribed medication, enabling use of patients own medicines and patient self-administration, counselling (to optimise medicines use), and ensuring continuity of patient care into the community. Providing medicines for individual patients during their stay in hospital, at discharge and also for out-patient visits. Interpreting and requesting clinical tests to monitor and make recommendations to improve effectiveness of drug therapy. Pro-actively liaising with other members of the multidisciplinary team (medical staff, nurses, microbiologists, physiotherapists, dieticians) in order to ensure safe use of medicines. You will provide day to day technical support, develop and prepare associated equipment, ingredients, facilities and materials for use by the teacher and students whilst maintaining a safe and hygienic working environment. Previous experience of working in a school and possession of a current Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate would be advantageous but are not essential as full training will be given.

Vacancy 2 - Design Technology and Art Technician

An innovative, flexible and personable individual to provide quality support to the Technology faculty with a specialism around Design Technology and Art. The role will include the preparation and supervision of specialist equipment for lessons, preparing resources and materials, providing technical support to the teaching staff and pupils, classroom displays, maintaining a safe working environment, cleaning and resource ordering. The role will predominantly be within the Product Design area of the department.

Whilst the posts are offered on 37 hours per week, part-time hours (30 hours per week) would also be considered.

The role is based across Nottingham City Hospital and Queen’s Medical Centre, working within our Macmillan Information and Support Centres.


• Provide a clinical service working autonomously without prior arrangement to answer queries about all aspects of cancer care.
• Provide emotional support, practical information and support and to complete benefits checks, grant applications and to provide information in relation to finances as required and to a senior level.
• Ensure direct, prompt and appropriate signposting and/or referral to other agencies as appropriate.
• Ensure practice is evidence based and the information used in the Macmillan Information and Support Service is up to date, relevant and consistent with organisational policies and that access to appropriate information sources is maintained.
• Assist in the development of the Macmillan Information and Support Service at NUH
• Act as a resource for cancer related information.
• Maintain accurate records/documentation of enquiries while respecting the right to patient confidentiality.
• Provide training for members of the multi-professional team, relating to the provision of cancer information and support, both within and externally to the Trust.
• Have involvement with local cancer support groups, and other voluntary organisations on the provision of accessible and acceptable cancer information, facilitating their involvement in the development and provision of the Macmillan Information and Support Service
• Supervise and appraise Macmillan Cancer Information Assistants.
• Maintain accurate and up to date data on uptake of the service.

We are seeking to appoint a suitably experienced, and enthusiastic Design and Technology Technician to support the continuing improvement of this large and successful faculty. Whilst the role focuses largely on supporting teaching and learning in the Product Design/Resistant Materials/Textiles areas, the successful candidate will also be required to work with the Food Technician and the Head of Art to support the preparation of resources and teaching and learning across the whole faculty.

It is not expected that all appropriate licences will be held for the safe use and maintenance of machinery in the workshops and training will be provided. An interest in, and aptitude for Computer Aided Design and Manufacture will be a distinct advantage.

You will have a broad-based knowledge of materials and are reliable, organised, calm and flexible with an enthusiasm for design as well as being confident dealing with pupils. You are competent in a range of manufacturing techniques and have practical experience of using tools and machines including pillar drill and band saw. You must also be competent in using IT and ordering systems. Previous DT technician experience within a school or relevant industry experience is essential.
