As a Communications Specialist supporting Alcon's Global Internal Communications, you will be trusted with implementing effective communication plans, managing communication and change management projects, and ensuring consistent and engaging messaging across various platforms. In this role, a typical day will include:
- Writing, Editing, and Designing: Create and edit a wide range of communications materials, including executive communications, internal announcements, presentations, internal social media and blog posts, and other relevant content. Design visually appealing and engaging communication materials.
- Technical Skills: Expertise using communication tools such as Staffbase, Sharepoint Intranet, Viva Engage, and other relevant platforms to facilitate effective and efficient communication within the organization.
- Communication Plan Execution: Contribute to and execute communication plans aligned with organizational objectives and communications strategy to enhance employee experience and engagement.
- Change Management Project Management: Execute change management projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery and successful implementation.
- Executive Communications: Support execution of comms strategies for senior executives as assigned to ensure effective communications to internal stakeholders, including internal social media posts, dynamic content development and written instruments.
- Employee Experience and Engagement: Develop and implement deliverables to enhance employee experience, including internal events.
- Internal Events: Support the execution of internal events including global webcasts, leadership meetings, periodic and regular comms initiatives such as internal communication for earnings and community programming.
- Content Approvals: Coordinate and administer approval of communications materials in line with the Communications approval process.
- Crisis/Issue Management: Provide ad hoc communications support during crisis or issues management situations under the direction of senior corporate comms leadership.
- Confidentiality Management: Handle highly confidential information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality protocols.
- Continuous Learning and Development: Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging communication technologies. Continuously learn and adapt to new tools and techniques to improve communication effectiveness.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Relevant certifications will be a plus.
- Experience in corporate communications or a related field, with a focus in writing, editing, and designing.
- Demonstrated expertise in change management communications and project management preferred.
- Strong technical proficiency in communication tools such as Staffbase, Sharepoint Intranet, Viva Engage, etc.
- Proven experience in executing communication plans.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with an ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
- Experience in supporting crisis communications and performing in high-pressure situations.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistency in messaging.
- Experience in handling confidential information and exercising appropriate discretion.
- Highly collaborative and consultative approach with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
