The Client:
We are working with a successful manufacturing and distribution business in the Telford area who are at an exciting point in their organisational journey. They have an exciting opening for Purchasing Assistant to join their friendly Purchasing and planning team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Purchasing and Planning Manager with the purchasing and inventory for an allocated material / supplier portfolio. This is an exceptional opportunity for a keen and enthusiastic purchasing assistant to join a growing business who support and encourage professional growth.


The Purchasing Assistant will be getting involved in:
• Ensuring all raw materials requirements are met by raising appropriate purchase orders
• Chasing and expediting purchase orders with suppliers to ensure material availability to meet production schedules
• Ensuring supplier deliveries are booked in
• Ensuring any discrepancies for goods received Vs goods ordered are investigated and resolved
• Maintain stock levels for materials / consumables and packaging items to ensure availability for manufacturing
• Monitor supplier performance and ensure any returns are processed efficiently

The person:
• Previous experience in a Purchasing Assistant / Purchasing Administrator / Materials Control / Inventory control role
• Good working knowledge of MRP / ERP Systems
• Previous experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

YOUR ROLE

As Inventory Front Line Manager you will manage and monitor all aspects of the operation to ensure stock is available to fulfil requirements at all times. You will build strong relationships with the customer, offering excellent customer service within budgetary constraints and work with them to ensure efficient planning, reviewing and communication of operational requirements and changes, responding positively to customer requests at all times. You will be responsible for monitoring general business KPI's, ensuring that they are met and improved upon through the effective management of the operation/ operational area of concern. Utilising your team management skills you will create and maintain an environment that encourages employee participation and effective team working and ensure employees are involved in the success of the operation through continual feedback and positive communication.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Process adherence; review on a regular basis all WI and SOP's to keep them up to date.
• Working with the operation to achieve KPI and SOR targets and produce weekly reports to send out to the OLS Manager
• Continually reviewing all aspects of the operation and driving improvements in methods, procedures and efficiency and root cause analysis on issues to prevent future errors.
• Conducting Daily, Weekly and Monthly briefings with whole team, achieve individual and team productivity performance standards including accuracy and the development of your team including succession planning.
• Promoting high standards of hygiene and housekeeping and ensuring compliance to all legislative Health & Safety requirements.
• Promoting and ensuring a consistent, fair and thorough approach to the implementation of human resources policies and procedures.
• Ensuring compliance of the operation to the Quality systems, industry standards and legal requirements.
• Adhere to company standards as detailed in the Code of Conduct Policy and comply with all instructed Safe Working Practices including the reporting of all accidents and incidents within the workplace

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

• Logistics management experience in a large fast moving environment
• Strong warehouse system experience
• Leadership qualities including the ability to enthuse and motivate with the ability to influence, negotiate and deal with conflict successfully
• Financial and strategic management experience and commercial awareness
• Drive, determination and a track record in delivering continuous improvement
• A strong knowledge of Health & Safety at work
• Experience of working to agreed targets
• Preferred experience (not essential) of JDA/ Red Prairie systems

If you know about international trading and have a grasp on UK/EU customs requirements, then that would be great.

You will also need to be confident with using MS Excel and familiar with its data analysis features
