Hours: 36 per week
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Systems and Data Quality Officer to join in supporting the continuous improvement within Neighbourhood Environmental Services. Working as part of the Performance Improvement team, you have an active role in service delivery within Neighbourhood Environmental Services. The role will support the City of Edinburgh Council by ensuring efficient and effective management of data systems, enhancing data quality, and implementing quality assurance processes.
The role focuses on optimising data utilization to improve service delivery, support decision-making, and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations. A high degree of IT literacy is required as is the ability to embrace the use of new systems quickly. Experience in the use of GIS applications would be beneficial. This is an exciting time to be taking on this role. The service will go through significant changes over the coming months and years with services adapting to policy changes and deployment of technologies in vehicles to increase a data driven approach to service improvement.
Key Responsibilities: Routing/Data Management and Analysis:
• Develop, maintain and progress routing system and data integrity.
• Develop, implement, and maintain data management systems to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and accessibility.
• Analyse data to identify trends, patterns, and insights to support strategic planning and operational improvements.
• Produce regular and ad-hoc reports for internal and external stakeholders. Continuous Improvement:
• Identify opportunities for improving data management systems and processes.
• Lead and participate in projects aimed at enhancing data quality and system efficiency.
• Keep abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in data management and quality assurance. Systems Management:
• Oversee the administration and maintenance of data systems, ensuring they meet the needs of the department and comply with IT policies.
• Work with IT and other relevant departments to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
• Lead the implementation of new systems and upgrades, including testing and user training.
Stakeholder Engagement:
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to understand their data needs and ensure systems and processes meet these requirements.
• Provide expert advice and support to colleagues on data management, systems, and quality assurance. Compliance and Standards:
• Ensure all data management and quality assurance activities comply with relevant legislation, policies, and standards, including GDPR.
• Stay updated with changes in regulations and standards, and update policies and procedures accordingly.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
