- 6:30pm weekdays/ Weekends 7am-5:30pm£12.08 per hour per annum plus Serco benefits Serco are recruiting for a Logistics Porter to join our team based at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital based in Norwich. This role will ensure the efficient, timely and safe movement of Logistical Stores, Linen, & Waste around the hospital site.
Main Accountabilities:
- Ensure the safe movement of hospital logistics stores, waste, and linen by use of electric vehicles around the hospital site as stated in the Service Level Specification.
- Receipt, sort, store and prepare for collection all types of waste and linen to ensure the efficient disposal as specified in company policies.
- Drive electric vehicles in specified areas adhering to Health and Safety procedures and work instructions.
- Report machinery faults including pre-shift inspection of electric vehicles or Health and Safety hazards to the department team leader for action and resolution.
- Ensure that high personal hygiene and infection control standards are maintained in relation to personal tasks.
- Ensure that all work, records, and paperwork is carried out in line with Health and Safety, Quality and Serco and Trust policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and filing systems both manually and computer in a timely and effective manner.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Good Communication Skills e.g. communicating with Trust staff and colleagues.
- Good Customer Care Skills, e.g. for communicating with the staff and suppliers.
- Completing of mandatory training, e.g. manual handling/risk assessment/fire safety training, delivering skills training to staff when required.
- Must be flexible and adaptable.
- To prioritise own workload effetely and in a manner that maintains quality.
- This role will require the candidate to be able to physically manoeuvre loads in tight spaces, driving electric vehicles, push Bins, Cages, wheeled trolleys, & linen and lift bags,
- Be open to working in the loading bay with exposure to adverse weather conditions.
- Be open to working with general / hospital environment / with exposure to soiled linen.
