Here at Serco, we are seeking a pro-active and self-motivated Project Coordinator to successfully support the change portfolio within Enabling Services (ES). The purpose of the Portfolio team is to successfully manage the change portfolio within ES, to deliver both financial and non-financial benefits within the budget, ensuring suitable project methodology and governance process is followed and continually improved, focusing on SBS strategic outcomes, whilst keeping our customers at the heart of everything we do.
In this varied role, you will have exposure to both PMO, Portfolio and Project activities. You will support the Portfolio Manager in the implementation and operation of PMO and Project Portfolio Management across the service, facilitate the day-to-day operation of portfolio hub, provide assurance to our key projects, supporting project managers in delivering their projects and manage the team project governance.
As part of this you’ll:
- Assist with the implementation of governance standards across the team and support ongoing continuous improvement of the governance in line with business needs and industry practices.
- Provide PMO assurance to projects, supporting project managers with gate reviews, risk and issue management, plans updates and preparing documentation.
- Support local and ES wide project sign on processes.
- Act an administrator for Project Online or relevant EPPM tool and represent the portfolio office at the technical review committee.
- Champion portfolio, PMO and project governance and ensure buy in and adherence across the business.
- Work closely with other project teams to ensure project governance is standardised and adopted across the business.
- Provide project support to key business projects and programmes to support delivery.
- Develop an appropriate centralised knowledge reporting of risks/issues/lessons learnt being tracked and managed by Programme/Project Managers across the PMO, publishing lessons learned and promoting the sharing of best practices.
- Provide support for the team, and ensure approved processes and measures are monitored and not breached to contribute towards successful KPI outcomes.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- At least 1 years’ experience in a PMO function/Portfolio Analyst/Project Coordinator or comparable role is desirable.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Sharepoint.
- Experience of Microsoft Project (desirable).
- Understanding of project and portfolio methodologies including full lifecycle management and project prioritisation.
- Strong communication skills and confidence to present complex information in a concise and effective way to a variety of audiences.
- Able to facilitate working groups and meetings.
- Able to influence project team members to ensure consistency of approach.
- Keen eye for detail, with very strong analytical and organisational skills.
- Experience of working with various stakeholders up to a senior level.
- Be able to occasionally travel to other UK Serco sites.
