You will be working for HMP Eastwood Park, located in Wotton-under-edge, as a Security Officer at HMP Eastwood Park, which is a local prison holding sentenced prisoners. It is a Women's closed prison and has a capacity of around 450 prisoners.
Your new role
We have an exciting new project coming up and are looking for 10 security officers to assist with contractors on site. Working as a Security Officer, you will be working alongside the operational security team. You will be responsible for escorting/assisting contractors as they carry out maintenance work around the prison, visitor checks, toolkit checks, main gate duties and vehicle searches. You will assist with the safety of visitors around the site and ensure no unauthorised items enter the site.
This role is 37-hours per week. It is a temporary contract which is a minimum of 3 months on a rolling basis and dependent on how long the project is for and how long the contractors take.
Rate (inclusive of holidays): £13.10 per hour with the opportunity for overtime as and when required.Overtime is paid at an enhanced rate of pay.Due to the location of this vacancy, you will need a vehicle, as there is limited public transport.

You will not require previous experience as you will receive full on the job training. You will need to be a strong communicator, level-headed and security conscious. You will be able to work well in a team and have excellent interpersonal skills. You will be required to provide 2 satisfactory references and will be subject to full prison clearance.

Role: Prison Security Escort

Location: HMP Eastwood Park

Standard Rate: £12.09 per hour + 33 days holiday pay

Overtime rate: £18.15ph (overtime after 37.5 hours)

Duration: Temporary with the potential to be long term

Typical hours: Monday to Friday: 08:00-17:00

As a Prison Security Escort, you will work alongside the prison service, supporting our client who is responsible for the maintenance of the buildings. You will be a part of security team where you will escort and oversee contractors such as carpenters, plumbers and electricians, whilst they complete their maintenance work.

This role is also multi - site Escort - HMP Bristol, HMP Eastwood Park as well as HMP Leyhill.

Duties of a Prison Security Escort Include (but not limited to)

• Checking the identification of the contractors
• Booking in and out of the contractors
• Escorting contractors through the prison to their place of work
• Overseeing contractors whilst they are working
• Checking contractor tools are all accounted for prior to leaving work area
• Using the radio to request permission to move contractors within the prison
• Checking contractors have been briefed on security measures

About You:

• You will have good communication skills
• Have excellent attention to detail
• Be safety conscious
• Have been living in the UK for the past 3+ years
• Be able to pass security vetting (includes providing references, passing security police checks & providing photo identification)

Store Hours 0800-2000hrs (Mon - Sat) 1000-1600hrs (Sun)

This role would be ideal for a security professional who has a customer service orientated approach; looking to further their working experience within a retail environment. The rota provides a good work life balance, with no starts earlier than 0700 and not finishing later than 2000; this is subject to seasonal changes - NO NIGHT SHIFTS. Main Duties

-Acting as a visual deterrent on the shop floor - able to deter and when required safely detain offenders in accordance with H&S training

-Utilising the store security systems, CCTV, EAS gates, etc, to support the security activity.

- Working in liaison with covert security operatives.

-Investigating any losses, empty packaging, support enquiries regarding known offenders.

-Completing full and accurate incident reports and company documentation

-Reporting Crime incidents to Crime Centre on a company provided tablet.

-Completing routine patrols of the store to ensure customer safety and maintaining a strong security presence to all members of the public.

-Recording completed patrols in daily activity sheets in liaison with the store point of contact.

-Attending the store briefings to provide a security update.

-Conducting shift handover procedures at the start and end of each shift to ensure all matters of concern or note occurring during a shift are passed on for the purposes of service and incident management continuity.

-Maintaining a safe and secure environment for all.

Qualifications

-Door Supervision or Security Guarding License Not Essential

-Have a five - year checkable employment history or be able to produce documentary evidence of any period of unemployment, self- employment or full and part time education during that period

Desirable experience

-Previous experience of working in a retail Security role
