The AMSA duties include maintaining appointment schedules, scheduling special studies or labs and following up on administrative items from the Huddle and/or staffing meetings. The Personnel Security Assistant serves as an Assistant to the Personnel Security Specialist and assures that all appointees have the appropriate level of security/suitability clearance commensurate with their assignment. Work assigned is of a very confidential and highly sensitive nature.

Major duties may include, but not limited to:

• Reviews information submitted by the requesting office to validate level of background required, enters appointee information into a local data base tracking system and refers appointee for fingerprinting.
• Enters appropriate data in required databases related to an appointee's suitability from a wide variety of sources.
• Performs audits of official personnel folders to assure that information related to suitability is properly recorded and filed.

Major Duties:

• Advisory Services: Provided on the basis of persona; knowledge or on the basis of personal research in the guidelines or contacts with the offices and individuals within the service.
• Budget and Financial Management: Collects data for the unit's operating budget, consolidates material into an annual service budget; sets up controls to monitor expenses during the year; and recommends budget adjustments including restructuring budget allocations or work plans to deal with changing situations such as varying costs for equipment parts, or services, and changes in the availability of funds. Alerts the Administrative Officer or other authority of significant issues/problems, such as overspending in assigned accounts.
  • Serves as technical resource to unit personnel on travel policies and regulations, and provides information on travel allowances and requirements. Prepares travel authorizations and vouchers using automated systems and software for travel and voucher preparation.
  • Researches accounting problems such as erroneous payments, object class errors, unobligated commitments, and late payments, and ensures corrections and/or adjustments documents are entered into the accounting systems.
• Office Program Work: Collect data, review, analyze and develop plan (if necessary), monitors signed/unsigned clinical notes, to improve access and in support of completing outpatient encounters. Provides data and proposals to the Chief of Medicine (Service Chief) and Administrative Officer (AO) for this same function.
  • Assists with identification of staffing shortages and deficiencies assuring efficient allocation of clinical personnel needed to maintain safe unit staffing levels as needed. Ensures data validation from (Gains and Loss [G&L], inpatient rosters and Cost Data Reports [CDR]).   • Responsible for data collection, analysis, and reporting for the assigned Sub-Specialty Section. Pulls data from systems such as VHA Support Service Center (VSSC), Strategic Analytics for Improvement and Learning (SAIL), and Specialty Productivity Access Report and Quadrant Tool (SPARQ), including those reports built using Pyramid Analytics, and VISTA for Budget reports. Analyzes this data and prepares reports for Sub-Specialty Chief and Medicine leadership. Assist Sub-Specialty section staff in understanding and utilizing data gathered from these sources.

The Assistant Chief/ Residency Co-Director dental officer serves as a practicing dentist who performs a full range of professional dental procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective, restorative, and/or preventive measures. The dental officer shall be proficient in all aspects of general dentistry including the ability to perform selected specialty services. The duties of the Assistant Chief/ Residency Co-Director include 70 percent clinical and 30 percent administrative responsibilities. The provider should possess the expertise and competency to perform the following:

• Makes oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity. Provide consultation and treatments within the scope of their specific clinical privileges. Providing outpatient, inpatient care for patients eligible for dental care.
• Diagnose pathological or irregular oral conditions.
• Function as the primary clinician or subject matter expert responsible for performing procedures, education and training affecting the daily clinical operations of the subspecialty.

The Nurse Assistant performs complex age specific nursing care for adult and geriatric patients with a variety of physical, mental, behavioral or psychological needs. The Nurse Assistant is learning to perform basic nursing assistant duties under close supervision in a variety of health care settings; outpatient, inpatient, community living care, residential, acute, or sub-acute. The Community Living Center (CLC) Interim (short stay/long stay) unit is a 38-bed neighborhood that provides comprehensive, interdisciplinary care to Veterans with acute and chronic conditions. The focused population is short stay/long stay skilled and rehabilitation with primary focus on wound care, IV therapy, general deconditioning, general rehabilitation and post-surgical rehabilitation. Common diagnoses unit include diabetic neuropathy, peripheral vascular diseases, and impairment of skin integrity, complex wound care, congestive heart failure (CHF), and chronic renal insufficiency.

The Registered Nurse provides care and counseling of persons or in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury based upon the nursing process which includes systematic data gathering, assessment, appropriate nursing judgment, and evaluation of human responses to actual or potential health problems through such services as case finding, health teaching, health counseling; provision of care supportive to or restorative of life and well-being; and executing medical regimens including administering medications and treatments prescribed by a licensed or otherwise legally authorized provider (Arizona Board of Nursing).

The LPN/LVN is assigned to a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT). The LPN/LVN is technically proficient in initiating, performing and completing assigned duties in providing care to a variable patient population. The Food Service Worker position is located within the Nutrition and Food Service at the VA Medical Center in Prescott, Arizona. Major duties and responsibilities of the WG-03 Food Service Worker include but are not limited to:

• Sets up and breaks down assigned station with the correct supplies and food items;
• Portions food items into standard serving sizes using the proper utensils and specified dishware
• Selects and places correct items on patient trays
• Decides what food items to serve for the most common diets
• Identifies obvious discrepancies between the prescribed diets and the food items designated by the menu
• Sets up dining room tables for service, place food and beverages on tables, and replenish items as necessary;
• Delivers meal trays to the patients' bedsides; reporting the patients' comments and complaints to the supervisor or dietitian;
• Provides assistance to cooks in the food preparation area, such as weigh, measure and assemble ingredients according to standardized recipes;
• Prepares fresh fruit/cold salads/dressings/sandwich fillings and cold sandwiches and simple cold desserts;
• Reads and interprets regular or modified menus, individual diet cards, tray tickets or patient selections
• Performs heavy-duty cleaning tasks throughout the food service and related areas;
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Sunday through Saturday; tours vary depending on the needs of the service to include rotating days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions: Work is performed in kitchen areas where the steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often cause uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. Performs work requiring light to moderate physical. May be required to perform heavy work, such as scouring and scrubbing large size cooking utensils and pushing heavy carts and trucks in unloading, storing, and delivering supplies. Subject to continuous standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift or move objects weighing more than 40 pounds with the assistance of others.

The Nurse Assistant performs complex age specific nursing care for adult and geriatric patients with a variety of physical, mental, behavioral or psychological needs. The Nurse Assistant is learning to perform basic nursing assistant duties under close supervision in a variety of health care settings; outpatient, inpatient, community living care, residential, acute, or sub-acute. The Nurse Assistant will care for patients, residents with acute to chronic conditions. All duties performed will be completed under close supervision with appropriate training and competencies for assigned task.

• Will appropriately utilize glucose monitoring machine to collect and document appropriate glucose readings for assigned Veteran.
• Maintains positive therapeutic relationships by displaying respect for human dignity with patient, families and/or significant others utilizing learned communication skills.
• Begins to utilize observation skills for data collection, reporting and recording patient/resident observations.
• Performs aspects of nursing care to meet patient's needs for the following: personal hygiene, physical comfort, exercise, rest, nutrition, prevention of skin breakdown & rehabilitative aspects of care.
• Nurse Assistant begins to engage in-group activities such as off-unit trips, reality orientation, current events and other therapeutic groups.
• The Nurse Assistant learns to utilize principles of proper body mechanics while caring for patients.

The Memory Care Unit, Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating Resident treatments with Physical, Occupational and Speech therapy. The Incumbent reports and charts significant changes in resident condition, evidence of pain or motivational level onto VHA's electronic health systems applications. Duties include caring for dementia patients related behaviors, the RN collaborates with interdisciplinary care teams and family relatives as well as assist with restorative nursing care

The Memory Care Unit, Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the effectiveness of nursing care delivered to the patients. The incumbent adheres to the established policy and procedures and the systemic clinical changes. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing and completing the required assessments and documentation for the effective management of residents covered under Community Care Living Center, Memory Care Unit and will monitor residents to ensure targeted discharge, education and home care needs are met. Handles routine admissions and discharges.

• Perform intravenous therapy, ostomy care and tracheotomy care.
• Administer enteral tube feedings
• Perform wound care management.
• Help residents with range of motion (ROM) exercises.
• Administer indwelling catheter care.
• Monitor respiratory care.
• Perform Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
• Administer medication.
