An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated, highly experienced and passionate Physiotherapist to clinically team lead the Critical Care Physiotherapy Team, working alongside the Critical Care Physiotherapist Extended Scope Practitioner. We are looking for an innovative, patient focused therapist with a passion for the management of patients with critically ill conditions, providing highly skilled respiratory care and complex rehabilitation. You will have a wide range of clinical experience and the leadership qualities needed to inspire and support a team of physiotherapists and an integrated therapy assistant to consistently deliver safe, personal and effective care to our patients. You will have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills that will enable you to act as an advocate for patients with complex critically ill patients, and promote the role of therapies within Critical Care and the wider network . The post holder will be required to work across a 7 day period, working weekends on a rota basis. Provide operational and line management to a designated team in the delivery of a highly effective, safe and personal service, delivered around the needs of individual patients/carers as described by agreed goals/outcome measures and within defined clinical pathways.
Working within the multidisciplinary teams, act as the Clinical Lead for the designated service area providing a high level of clinical expertise with regard to highly specialist assessment skills and interactions within a defined patient group.
An active member of the leadership structure, the postholder will contribute toward the strategic operational and clinical development of the service.
Provide teaching and highly specialist support in the management of complex conditions, educating other healthcare professionals and wider stakeholders.
To manage individual care in the area of critical care. Within this area the Physiotherapist will require a broad knowledge of conditions relating to critical care including an in-depth knowledge and understanding of surgical procedures (post op CCU). They will also be required to have highly developed respiratory and rehabilitation skills to treat the group of patients and also to support the delivery of on-call training/competencies to more junior staff.

COMMUNICATION
1. Communicate with professionals, patients and families/carers in a professional manner and appropriate to the individual using a range of mediums and techniques including letters, reports, groups, verbal, emails and onward referral.
2. Act as an advocate on behalf of patients.
3. Deal with challenging situations using conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
4. Provide early intervention of HR issues such as performance, disputes, behaviour, sickness etc with the support of HR and operational management.
5. Advise and support your team in adapting communication skills to meet individual patient’s needs.
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
1. Ensure compliance with mandatory training for yourself and your team.
2. Take responsibility for own professional development and the development of your team using a training needs analysis and competency framework across a variety of settings and patient groups and clinical pathways.
3. Provide regular supervision and feedback to your team to facilitate self-development.
4. Plan, organise and deliver training to students, assistants, junior staff and colleagues including wider multi-disciplinary team and other agencies as required.
5. Lead on and participate in research and development activities as required.
6. Provide training to other health care professions, both undergraduate and post graduate level.
7. Review, update and produce guidelines/procedures and educational resources that reflect national guidance/clinical standards and evidence-based practice.
ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work closely with the operational service lead, Head of Service and clinical leads to interpret and implement Trust and Directorate targets, national guidelines and AHP strategies within your specialist area.
1. Actively contribute to the development and delivery of the Therapies Directorate and service level business and improvement plans.
1. Undertake line management duties including rostering, job planning, appraisals, clinical supervision, approval of travel expenses, sickness monitoring and support etc.
1. Undertake a team leader role in the planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluation of the designated clinical service.
1. Identify areas for, lead and implement, continual improvement, underpinned by evidence-based practice.
1. Lead on the performance management of the designated clinical team across a range of Quality, Delivery, Finance and People measures.
1. Lead on the recruitment and retention of staff, ensuring competency frameworks are in place, supporting staff through probationary and preceptorship with training and feedback. Facilitate the ongoing development of your team and facilitate rotations of clinical staff where appropriate,
1. Assist the service in involving service users, their families and carers in service evaluation and associated developments.
1. Be responsible for deputising for the Clinical and Operational Service leads and 8a Critical Care Extended Scope Practitioner.

1. Be actively involved in professional clinical groups, clinical interest groups, peer review, ICS wide review and standardisation of services and professional development initiatives.
1. Promote awareness of the professional role within the Trust and externally.
