Overview of the job

The job holder will undertake the full range of work with offenders before and after sentence. This will include assessment, sentence implementation, offender management and producing reports. The job holder will provide case management support to a full range of offenders utilising service procedures and practice directions that underpin professional judgement.

Summary

To assess and manage the risk (including risk management plans and escalation) posed by offenders to protect victims of crime and the general public by:

• Liaising, providing information and advice to criminal courts, criminal justice agencies and other partner agencies
• Supervise and manage risk of those offenders subject to community sentences, during and after custodial sentences.
• Work with other agencies and groups to prevent crime and meet the needs of victims and offenders.

Responsibilities, Activities & Duties

Probation Services Officers may be required to undertake any combination, or all, of the duties and responsibilities set out below.

• To undertake the full range of offender management tasks with offenders assessed as low or medium risk of harm and to support the Probation Officer grade in high risk cases.
• When providing case manager support, to contribute to the delivery of the Risk Management plan and report significant changes relating to risk of harm and/or of reoffending or any non-compliance within agreed enforcement procedures
• To use computer based systems to produce, update and maintain records and other documentation within agreed timescales
• Ensure effective referrals to services and facilities and communicate with offender management staff, interventions staff, service providers and external agencies to review progress and associated risks.
• To undertake prison, home or alternate location visits as required in accordance with service procedures and policies.
• To undertake work in the court setting, including the completion of appropriate reports on cases and prosecution of breaches.
• To provide cover within teams as required
• To deliver and co-lead accredited programmes commensurate with grade
• To conduct mandatory alcohol and drug tests as required, and to follow prescribed medication procedures
• Carry out safeguarding children duties in accordance with the NPS statutory responsibilities and agency policies

Main Responsibilities

The Ideal Candidate

SERVICE DELIVERY 1. To be proficient in all IT systems relevant for the role; 2. To work alongside schedulers within Radiology / Colorectal and Clinic Coordinators to be a single point of liaison for referrals, booking and coordination of patient test preparation; 5. To work seamlessly with the various clinical and non-clinical teams involved within the Optimal Colorectal pathway; 6. To ensure that the provisions of appropriate services at the right time and in the right place are available for patients and to have the knowledge to signpost patients as required; 7. To be a single point of contact for patients, carers and the healthcare team triaging sensitive enquiries and referring to the appropriate department within the hospital; 8. Provide early detection of problems; 9. Actively participating in the provision of routine non-clinical information and advice for patients and carers; 10. Details of the Customer Service Advisor role:

Salary: £23,260 + bonuses = £25K+ OTE (pro rata)
Holiday: 25 days + Bank Holidays (pro rata)
Set hours Monday to Friday either 8AM – 4PM, 9AM - 5PM or 10AM – 6PM, with 1 in 3 Saturdays 9AM – 1PM (this is paid additionally at time and a half)
Hybrid once trained, 3 days in the office, 2 days WFH

Responsibilities of the Customer Service Advisor:

Full training will be provided on the in-house systems!

Answering a high volume of inbound calls and emails from customers and clients
Updating customer records, dealing with direct debit enquiries, and printing off documentation
Responding to a multitude of enquiries within necessary deadlines

Requirements to be the next Customer Service Advisor:

Previous experience within a customer service-based role
Ability to manage a busy workload and meet varying deadlines
An enthusiastic and positive attitude

The contract will be for 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), and it is envisaged there will be a split on average of clinical duties into 5.5 PAs in Critical Care and 2.5 PAs in the associated specialty (if applicable). However, there is some flexibility in this to accommodate specific clinical interests of the successful candidate. A consultant of the week model (Mon-Fri 8am-6pm split as per job planned preference) is the current working pattern with ongoing amendments proposed to improve continuity of care and sustainability. Each morning the duty consultant is supported by a 2nd consultant intensivist (8am to 1pm) who also provides support to the outreach team; this second consultant session is worked by all as part of their regular job plan. CC1 (Critical Care 1) is currently split into a 3 day and a 2.5-day responsibility to critical care. There are plans in place to change this to a Monday-Thursday consultant of the week model to better improve continuity of care whilst maintaining sustainable working patterns. Other DCC (Direct Clinical Care) is split between CC2 (Critical Care 2) and the associated specialty (if applicable). The current on call rota is on a 1 in 8 basis. There is one consultant on call (non-resident) after 18:00 every day of the week. Weekend on calls are split Fri/Sun and Sat with DCC cover varying depending on time of year. Summer weekend working consists of a resident morning session (08:00-12:00) and a 3-hour flexible resident session whereby the consultant will reattend site to review the patients. During winter, consultants are job planned to be resident during the hours of 08:00-18:00. The on-call commitment between/ after these hours is non-resident. There are plans in place to sustainably further recruit to additional critical care posts over time to reduce the frequency of on call commitments.
