Pay Rate: Up to £14.43 per hour PAYE depending on experience
Hours per week:18.13, specific days and hours TBC
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 3 months
City: Coalville, Leicestershire
Candidates must have a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle during working hours, which must be insured to the Councils requirements for business use.

The purpose of the role is to provide personalised support and assistance to our older or more vulnerable tenants to help them continue to live independently. The role involves visiting tenants across the district each day to assess their needs and provide tailored advice and assistance, helping them to access appropriate services. The role also includes promoting and developing the programme of social activities that are run within our sheltered accommodation sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess needs, develop support plans and provide support to customers in a way that promotes their independence, dignity, security and rights, ensuring that the assessment is kept under review.
Ensure appropriate social, health and well-being services are provided at the Council’s sheltered housing schemes and in the community and that effective liaison is maintained with other teams in the Housing Service (in particular Housing Repairs) and other Council departments as appropriate.
Where assigned to a particular sheltered housing scheme, to take the lead in facilitating the design and organisation of social, health and well-being services at that scheme – encouraging residents to shape and develop these services themselves. Ensure that opportunities exist for consultation and that regular scheme meetings are held.
Advise customers on the availability of local statutory, private and voluntary services and organisations and on their rights to services. Act as an advocate where appropriate. Contact services on the user’s behalf or help them to do this for themselves. Help users to obtain and fill in any forms where necessary.
Where required participate in case conferences with other agencies and make referrals/liaise with other agencies/GPs and/or family members.
Maintain an awareness in relevant specialist areas of knowledge (e.g. dementia) as identified by the Support Team Leader.
Ensure the excellent reputation of the Council is built and maintained with all customers and internal and external partners.
Qualifications:
Educated to GCSE Standard (or equivalent), including passes in English and Maths.
Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Good knowledge of assistive technology support solutions.
Knowledge and understanding of both physical and mental health related problems and the diverse needs of elderly and vulnerable customers.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
