An Introduction to the EMHP Programme at UEA The EMHP Programme at UEA uses blended learning, comprised of face-to-face teaching at UEA and online teaching, self-directed study days and supervised practice within employing MHSTs to allow trainees to develop the required clinical competence and confidence relevant to the role of an EMHP. Our team have extensive experience of working psychologically with children and young people across a range of settings and interventions. The teaching team includes lecturers with experience of delivering low intensity mental health interventions - who can use their experience to support, model and teach these skills positively alongside those with expertise in the field of children and young peoples mental health and education. We also use a range of external Associate Tutors and Guest lecturers to support teaching. Throughout the year are a range of assessments and assignments to demonstrate learning outcomes and assess clinical skills and competency. In addition to learning the theory and practice for delivering evidence-based low intensity assessments and treatments for children and young people, taught modules will cover how to work in, understand the processes of, and engage with education settings. This is afull-time training programme which requires the successful completion of each of the 6 modules outlined below, as well as a portfolio evidencing clinical practice competencies Module 1 Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Settings: Context and Values Module 2 Assessment & Engagement Module 3 Evidence-based Interventions for Common Mental Health Problems with Children and Young People (Theory and Skills) Module 4 Working, Assessing and Engaging in Educational Settings Module 5 Common Problems and Processes in Educational Settings Module 6 Interventions for Emerging Mental Health Difficulties in Educational Settings On successful completion of the course, trainees will qualify as an Educational Mental Health Practitioner with a Diploma / PG Diploma (120 credits). Key Dates and Attendance There are 70 teaching days across the calendar year with some intensive teaching blocks early in the course. These include cross modular/induction activities and top up/review sessions. Employment with NELFT will begin on Tuesday 2nd January, where you will start a 2 week induction. The Course start date for 2024 will be Tuesday 14th January. The HCA Academy is an Integrated Care System (ICS) initiative between Essex Partnership University Hospital Trust (EPUT) and Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (MSEFT) and will model a one workforce cross system approach to the recruitment, education and experience of Healthcare Assistants (HCA), establishing a career framework that supports retention in the role and will offer a supported progression into apprenticeships for our population. The HCA Education and Pastoral Support Assistant will work under the supervision of the Health Care Assistant (HCA) Development Facilitator as part of the centralised HCA Academy. Working as part of a supportive corporate team with the existing Education Facilitators and the wider Education Team across the MSEICS, the postholder will support HCA team members realise their full potential by providing development opportunities and a supportive environment allowing them to deliver the highest quality of patient care. The post holder will help to champion and co-ordinate the development of the Band 2 -3 staff who are new to the Trust and to the care environment. The Nursing and Quality Directorate is responsible for putting patient safety and quality with multi professional leadership at the heart of our system. This means that our health and care performance benefits from the active support and participation of staff within the ICS as part of their day-to-day work. The ICS has committed to developing our clinical and care leadership while adopting an approach to improving the care we provide. It means bringing together the expertise of clinical and multi-professional leaders within a care area to get the best value from our collective system resources, in line with Triple Value aims, ultimately influencing our entire health and care provision. Presently the ICB and system partners commission over 23 contracts for the provision of ADHD/Autism with limited oversight or join up on service provision, data analysis, review of impact and outcomes. There is significant variation in service delivery and models of provision across MSE which is resulting with inequitable access and support for children and adults. The post will focus on local system oversight and integration of these services in utilising the Stewardship approach to support a whole system approach meeting the significant and rising demand. This post will also support Learning Disability services, particularly in relation to the required analysis of a submitted business case via ECC which is anticipated to be reviewed via the Finance Investment/Disinvestment committee. This will require significant liaison with key stakeholders and partner organisations. This role will support the ICB with delivery on the SEND statutory requirements for children services. This post will lead on integration, commissioning and contracting, and the development of Neurodiverse pathways and services across systems and processes to provide quality and patient safety assurance for the population.
