An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Learning Disabilities Nurse to join our Community Paediatric Service, to work alongside a team consisting of Community Paediatricians, Speech and Language Therapist, a Clinical Psychologist and Clinic Assistants to develop our ADHD/ASD pathway. The post holder must share our passion and commitment to work with children and young adults with suspected ADHD to improve their access to a timely assessment and on-going management.
The post holder will be involved in the planning, implementation and feedback following an ADHD assessment for children/young adults.

As well as a clinical caseload, the post holder will have the opportunity to become involved in-service planning and development, research, teaching and training. You will receive regular supervision and the service is committed to CPD. The post is based in Mid Essex, but the ability to travel independently between locations is essential.
The post holder should be a Registered Nurse Level 1 Learning Disability/ Mental Health Nurse with Non-Medical prescribing qualification (v300) and holds a post registration qualification, with a minimum of 2 years experience. We are looking for someone with experience of working with this service user group in any care setting, or someone who has transferable skills.

To contribute to pre-diagnostic assessments for children under the age of eleven years who may have a neuro-developmental condition, post diagnosis medication support, on-going medication management including assessment and internal referrals for behavioural management strategies
To assess and support families within Mid Essex in partnership with the Child Development Teams, providing assessments, advice and support to families of children with additional needs especially during the diagnostic process for ADHD and Autism assessments.
To be responsible for providing specialist ADHD assessment, interventions, and close liaison with a broad range of other disciplines and agencies, including education, social services, voluntary agencies, and primary care.
Provide expert advice and information to the Community Paediatric Medical Team linking with Social Care, Education, and other agencies to promote inclusion.

To undertake training to become an independent prescriber, or work as an independent prescriber, alongside the medical team, to initiate, review and manage medication used to treat ADHD and sleep problems.
To be responsible for a geographical area and to undertake home visits to offer advice and support to families/carers.
To undertake school observations.
To participate in appropriate training developments as required.
To run early intervention clinics to offer initial assessment for children and families
To provide advice and support to children with additional needs and their families/carers, especially during the assessment process and following diagnosis.
