Across their various services, they provide support for a wide range of needs including Autism (ASD), ADHD, social, emotional, mental health, learning disabilities, as well as additional complex needs or disabilities.
Job Description:
As our Occupational Therapist, you will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team within the therapy service. You will deliver high-quality occupational therapy assessment and intervention to children and young people. This includes providing advice and training to parents, carers, and professionals in line with proposed treatment plans.
You will work independently and manage a caseload of children with complex needs, autistic spectrum conditions, sensory needs, and attachment difficulties within the specialist education setting.
Key Duties:
Professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your work, including the management of young people in your care.
Conduct autonomous assessments of children with a wide range of additional needs, including autistic spectrum conditions, sensory and attachment difficulties within the setting of a specialist residential school.
Analyze and interpret assessments to recommend and deliver the best course of intervention for each child.
Support individual development and care plans, particularly activities of daily living, self-care, productivity, and leisure.
Formulate, evaluate, and review individualised occupational therapy treatment plans using clinical reasoning skills and a wide range of treatment options.
Demonstrate a sound understanding of clinical governance and clinical risk, utilizing evidence-based treatment plans.
You will establish a warm, caring, and supportive relationship with pupils to help them feel safe, enjoy learning, and develop independence and personal growth. You will maintain high expectations of behavior and support the class teacher in providing high-quality, challenging, and differentiated educational activities and experiences.
Qualifications and Skills:
A recognized degree in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Member of RCOT.
Previous experience in an occupational therapy role.
Experience of multi-disciplinary team and multi-agency working.
Knowledge and experience of various approaches to managing children through advanced clinical reasoning.
Knowledge of managing children with autistic spectrum conditions, sensory needs, and attachment difficulties, including evidence-based strategies.
Experience of using sensory strategies to support children and young people.
