Paramedic Learning Facilitator

NWAS has developed this exciting new role to help achieve the best possible learning experiences for learners and mentors/practice educators within PES Operations. This role will suit individuals with a strong background in supporting learners and a passion for improving learner experiences.



Each PES sector will gain valuable support from a Paramedic Learning Facilitator, who will report to the Sector Manager and work as an integral part of the Sector management team, supporting, evaluating and improving the learner and mentor/practice educator experience within the Sector. The post holder will report on learner experiences, using data, analysing learner experiences and activities and provide assurance of quality and develop action plans to enable the delivery of consistent and highly valued learner programmes in the Sector.

Paramedic Learning Facilitators will spend 70% of their time working operational shifts with identified learners on a double crewed ambulance (DCA). The role will not follow a fixed rota and will have the flexibility to determine the required working pattern to meet the needs of learners, recognising that different sectors may develop different operating models. They will work closely with rostering teams and the sector management team to plan shifts with learners. The remaining 30% of time (non-operational) will be protected to support individual and sector-based learning activities, working in partnership with the local sector and workforce development teams.



Suitable candidates will be qualified to degree level as a paramedic and will have experience of supporting learners as a practice educator/mentor and have completed a relevant mentoring learner module. Ideally candidates will hold/be working towards relevant teaching/learning qualifications at the point of application, but for the right candidates these will be provided following appointment.

We are recruiting for an enthusiastic, motivated and committed Team Manager, with extensive experience of working with adults with a learning disability/autism and complex needs to join Outward.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager wanting to further utilise their skills in coaching and mentoring the staff team, and also embedding high standards in the running of the service.

The role would involve managing our LD/ASC supported living services located in North East London. The services are either small shared houses or new build self -contained flats with a communal space. The services are designed to support the skills building needed to increase the independence of people with autism and/or learning disabilities and behaviours of concern. Responding to the Transforming Care agenda this service is providing a real opportunity for people who may have been in previously unsuitable/unstable housing, or in hospital settings, to have their own space with support that enables them to thrive and enjoy a good quality of life, as active and valued members of their community.

About the role

people supported
• You will be responsible for ensuring the service is safe, effective, caring, well
led, responsive and managed to meet CQC essential standards to a minimum
of good service and with the aim of achievement of outstanding.
About You

• You will have significant management experience of working in a similar
setting.
Ideally you will have as a minimum:
o 3 years’ experience of delivering person centred support to people with a
learning disability/autism and complex needs including behaviours of concern.
o A minimum of 1 years’ experience of managing a service for people with a
learning disability/autism/complex needs
• You will be an excellent communicator liaising effectively with key stakeholders
including the multi-disciplinary and health professionals, family carers and
people we support.
• You will have experience of staff management and the ability to lead, motivate
and develop a large team, ensuring staff are appropriately trained. You will be
visible in the service and strive to model best practice and inspire support
workers.
• You will be able to think creatively and be adaptable in approaches, with
experience of implementing emergency management guidance to support
staff.
• Experience of carrying out needs assessments and creating support and risk
management plans for people.
• The ability to deliver a creative and flexible service that make a positive
difference to people’s lives, in accordance with an individual support plans, the
service specification and CQC requirements
• A commitment to providing high quality, personalised active support
• Leading by example, you will uphold the rights of people we support to be
involved at all levels of decision making.
• You will share our values and passion to engage, enable and empower people
with autism or a learning disability to lead the lives they want.

We are seeking a Learning Specialist on a temporary contact. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining effective partnerships with HR colleagues, business managers, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to provide a customer-focused, efficient, and effective learning and development service. The Learning Specialist will be responsible for commissioning, designing, developing, sourcing, and providing access to learning resources and development programs, ensuring that all learning and development meets the needs of the organisation and its employees.

Duties would include:

• Support the wider business and the HR Business Partnering team to identify any learning needs.
• Ensure all mandatory and statutory requirements are prioritised and effectively met for the various businesses.
• Provide coaching, advice, challenge, and quality checking/assurance to help with learning design and support on a variety of learning and development solutions.
• Consult with managers and leaders across the business to identify, map and record job-based learning requirements.
• Track and monitor training compliance and take up of learning and development activity and advise the HR Business Partnering team and the wider business on talent and learning activity for their respective areas.
• Monitor and review learning spend against the annual budget, ensuring all activities are relevant, fit for purpose, delivered within budget, and provide value for money.
• Work closely with your Talent & Learning team colleagues to maintain and update the learning 'Way of Working' manual, identifying, defining, and documenting processes and procedures as needed.

Essential criteria and experience:

• Comprehensive experience of working in a training and development environment at Adviser level.
• Experience commissioning and managing external learning and training partners.
• Experience using and/or administering an LMS (preferably Cornerstone).
• Experience of working in a complex, diverse, and fast-paced organisation with demanding deadlines.
• Demonstrable ability to conduct training needs analysis in a large, diverse organisation and using this to recommend business-focused learning strategies and resources.
• Communication, listening and influencing skills with a range of external partners, and managers.
• Understanding of how to utilise learning initiatives to improve diversity and increase inclusion.
• Data analysis and report writing skills including recommending solutions.
• Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office and complex databases; and the ability to quickly learn new software.

Quality Assurance within the Department Implement and maintain the systems which provide assurance of the quality of activity undertaken within the department. Recognise and respond to governance and quality issues that might arise during quality control checks. Participate in the hosting of regulatory inspections and audits as required. Promote a Quality Culture among staff, users and the wider community. Act as local administrator and lead user of key software in the department, and as the local expert and key liaison with Trust IT and the software vendor for the products listed below. The post holder will collaboratively ensure, as part of a triumvirate that all systems meet the operational needs of the department at all times and will be responsible for the development and validation of associated systems and processes as required by your superiors Document Management Take collaborative responsibility for developing the portfolio of training and quality documents including SOPs, Work Instructions, supporting Templates etc., in conjunction with the subject matter experts (authors) as appropriate under the direct supervision of your superiors. Manage change, implementing new and updated working practices ensuring staff are adequately trained and supported to deliver the changes. Further ensuring they are appropriately documented. Ensure that all Regulatory and Trust requirements are encapsulated in the departments Training, compliance and Quality System. Maintain precise and accurate quality management records that are ready for inspection by regulatory authorities and Sponsors on demand. Training & Audit Implement and maintain an audit programme to ensure services are being implemented appropriately and fit for purpose. Recognise and act upon departures from legislative and research governance requirements including failure to follow protocols and /or SOPs, responding appropriately and escalating action as required. Participate in Good Practice audits as part of the audit programme implemented by senior Managers. Ensure the implementation, embedding and onward maintenance of a Training Framework that provides the workforce with the adequate skills to provide a high quality service. Maintain programme of regular auditing to provide assurances that training programme is fit for purpose and workforce skills are maintained and developed. Ensure annual training updates are delivered to the workforce and there are regular competency checks ensuring compliance to department standards. Information and Data Management The post holder will use standard information technology - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Internet Explorer and the department specific software in order to undertake their duties. They will also use the Trust reporting systems DATIX, EPR, iPMS and other relevant reporting systems. They will ensure that all paper based systems are maintained securely. They will oversee the storage and archiving of department records in accordance with the relevant procedures and requirements. General The post holder will maintain a high level of knowledge relating to the EU and UK legislation, regulations, management and conduct of their specialist field. They will act as the department expert on training and quality matters. As appropriate attend national meetings and training on behalf of the service. Maintain good working relationships with academic and service departments in order to promote effective teamwork.
