Here at Kingston College, we are looking for a Lecturer in Engineering to teach both FE and HE vocational courses. Predominantly on vocational Level 2/3 programmes for full time and apprenticeship students, you will be responsible for the delivery, conduct and progress of students on these courses in line with College and School policies and procedures, ensuring the provision is of high quality.

The requirements of this role are to teach Engineering on a range of units which may include areas of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Principles and Mathematics. These can be discussed at interview, as there are a range of units that can be used. Additionally, there may be some opportunities to teach HE Engineering up to Level 5.

We're looking for someone who is educated to degree level (or holds a high academic qualification) in an appropriate subject with strong knowledge of engineering relevant to the curriculum offer of the section. You will hold a teaching qualification with experience of delivering training at Level 3 in an Engineering environment or an educational setting and have knowledge of new technologies to enhance teaching and learning to support students.

With high personal standards and expectations, you will have good planning, preparation, organisational and administrative skills, and be able to work well under pressure to agreed deadlines. You will have an awareness of academic quality standards and be receptive to new ideas and initiatives, with a creative approach to problem solving.

The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that is implemented in the new academic year.

Day to day duties

Teaching up to a Level 5 in Construction and the Build Environment and teaching across a range of additional relevant topics.

Tutoring students, showing sensitivity to their needs and encouraging the highest possible standards.

Meeting targets, with reference to student progress on programme, student attendance and student retention.

Providing information, advice and guidance to students in their progression to either employment and / or to additional courses within the college.

Required skills and qualifications

HNC or HND Qualification (or equivalent) within a construction related subject.

Understanding and recent experience of the discreet curriculum area.

Significant, relevant experience within the Construction Industry.
