Research Assistant/Associate Policy Analyst – Population Health

The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is recruiting a Research Assistant/Associate Policy Analyst. The rapid population ageing in Singapore calls for innovative solutions. We aim to assess the impact of health promotion programmes (e.g. urban care farming, cognition training, etc) on the health and health-related behaviours of participants. This project will involve recruitment, assessment, and analysis of the research data. The candidate will also be working on models in policy evaluation. This is a full-time position based in Singapore.

Duties may include but are not limited to: (1) provide programming support to a research project (2) assist with recruitment and data analyses; (3) manage large complex databases; (4) conduct literature reviews (5) contribute to the development of scientific papers and the dissemination of the study findings.

The appointed candidate should: (1) Hold at least a bachelor degree (2) be proficient in Stata or R and (3) have experience in statistics, mathematics, econometrics, computer science, quantitative social science, public health, epidemiology or related field. Experience with C++ is preferred but not required.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to query large data sets and have excellent knowledge of quantitative methods in applied health and/or social sciences. Fluency in English, as well as demonstrably good writing and analytic skills are essential. Fluency in English is required as the candidate will deal with English-speaking stakeholders, such as conducting the research and meetings. The role will suit someone who enjoys problem-solving.

The position is for one year but can potentially be extended. The grade of appointment will be accorded based on candidate’s academic qualifications and years of relevant experience.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 4 full-time Band 4 Assistant Education Mental Health Practitioners, to work within our established Mental Health Support Team in Schools, based in Halton, St Helens, Knowsley, and Warrington. Job description

The National University Health System Virtual Care Centre (NUHS VCC) is an initiative where trained personnel provides tele-triage to patients and/or their caregivers. VCC will either provide advice and resolve the clinical question or escalate to the VCC clinician where appropriate. To facilitate the development and evaluation of VCC at NUHS a research team has been established. The successful applicant(s) will work as part of a growing and energetic team investigating health at the interface of clinical epidemiology and infectious diseases in local and international contexts. The successful candidates will work together with the PI to develop models to understand the risk factors of healthcare associated infections, potential intervention strategies and the cost effectiveness of these interventions.

This position is based in Clinical Sciences Building, Nanyang Technological University.

Key Responsibilities:

Our lab seeks to hire motivated researchers to provide insights into the transmission of infectious diseases using novel computational methods. The successful candidate will work with the PI and the team to transform our understanding of infectious disease transmission dynamics.

• Develop models to understand the transmissibility of infectious diseases
• Develop models to understand the medium to long-term burden of infectious diseases across different spatial scales
• Undertaking literature reviews
• Leading on analysing data using statistical and data science techniques
• Leading on writing reports, presentations, and publication of results and findings in peer-reviewed journal
• Generating research questions
• Collaborating with researchers in other national and international institutions

Competencies and Qualification Requirements:

• Masters (Research Associate), Bachelors (Research Assistant), or equivalent in a related discipline. i.e statistics/epidemiology/data science. Post-graduate qualifications in other quantitative disciplines are welcome to apply.
• Background and research experience in epidemiology
• A strong interest in infectious diseases, spatial statistics and health data science
• Ability to communicate findings effectively
• Ability to work in a diverse and large team of researchers
• Well-organized and has an eye for detail
• Possess good written and verbal communication skills
• Possess the ability to work effectively in teams
• Have good proficiency in Statistical software (R)

It would be desirable for the candidate to:

• Have good proficiency in other programming languages, for example Python/C/C++
• Have a strong interest in learning quantitative skills
