This role will be very diverse and rewarding and includes:Supporting children’s learning inside and outside of the classroom.Providing specific and helpful feedback to pupils, informing them of what they are doing well and supporting them to overcome any barriers to learning or misconceptions they might have.Working alongside other members of support staff.Delivering specific interventions to support children’s next steps in learning and social and emotional development.Supporting with daily routines, pastoral care and pupil engagement.Establishing trusting relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents.Creating and maintaining an orderly and supportive environment by implementing our behaviour policy with consistency and care.Upholding policies and procedures relating to child protection and data protection.Ideally, applicants would:Have previous experience of working with children with additional needs and / or SEND.Have the ability to form positive relationships with children, staff and parents.Be able to demonstrate strategies to manage behaviour calmly and effectively.Have high expectations of all children and themselves.Be organised, self-motivated and able to use own initiative, including the ability to plan and prepare work.Be reflective and fully committed to continued professional development.Be prepared to accompany children on school visits.Be supportive of the school’s ethos, vision and values. The Priory Learning Trust (Somerset Business Award winner for Employer of the Year) is looking to recruit a Primary Teacher for our ELP (Enhanced Learning Provision) to work at The King Alfred School - An Academy, rated 'Good' by Ofsted November 2022. The transition to secondary school from primary school represents a significant shift in environment for all children, but particularly so for those identified as having Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).

An ELP sits within a mainstream secondary school and delivers tailored and high-quality teaching to pupils with SEND who are working at KS1 curriculum levels or who may have other identified needs which makes them more vulnerable than their peers at transition. An ELP uses skilled teachers with additional training and experience and small groups to maximise achievement and progress primarily in core subjects, while supporting these pupils to access the wider mainstream curriculum alongside their peers.
