What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking an outstanding, passionate and inspiring Physical Education teacher to join our team as we continue on our journey to providing an outstanding education for all in our care. We are looking for someone with character, who has the highest standards and ambitions, and the drive and determination to ensure our students flourish beyond what they thought possible. We are committed to all students developing a love of Physical Education and a desire to achieve the very best they can.
The school possesses excellent facilities for the teaching of Physical Education. In addition to the gymnasium, Astroturf and the extensive playing field on and off site the school enjoys the use of the adjacent recreation centre. This is built on the school grounds and includes a sports hall, fitness suite and a swimming pool.
The PE Department teaches both mixed and single sex classes. In Key Stage 3 and 4 students experience a broad and balanced programme in line with the National Curriculum requirements. At Key Stage 4 students also have the option of following the GCSE Physical Education Programme. Advanced level PE and BTEC Sport have been running successfully for many years within the school.
The department has an extensive programme of extra-curricular activities with many of the traditional games running all year. Regular fixtures and competitions involve numerous school teams from Year 7 to Year 13.
PE is very popular with the students at Arnewood. They have great confidence in the PE staff who work extremely well together. The department is proud of the many students who have achieved national, regional, county and area sporting achievements.
The successful candidate will demonstrate: -
• the ability to teach PE within a high-performing and well-established department
• a passion for PE and teaching and have excellent subject knowledge and pedagogical understanding
• they are an excellent classroom practitioner, who is experienced in teaching academic Physical Education to KS4 and KS5.
