We are seeking to appoint a Cloud Engineer to join the multidisciplinary Oxford-GSK Institute of Molecular & Computational Medicine, based within the Nuffield Department of Medicine.

The Institute is built around fellows and Oxford-GSK project teams located across different departments within the Medical Sciences Division of the University. The initial projects focus on neurodegeneration and the central nervous system, specifically Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis but it is anticipated the range of activities will expand into other research areas in future.

You will be leading the design, planning, provisioning, ongoing maintenance and development of the IMCM Data Platform, and creating and updating documentation for the IMCM-specific aspects of the Data Platform. You will identify potential tools that can enhance the observability capabilities of the platform. This includes setup monitoring of the Platform to inform capacity planning and help spot potential problems before they affect researchers. You will be tasked with ensuring the security of the Platform is in line with the security guidelines provided by the University infosec teams and also from GSK. This includes developing and applying security policies (policy-as-code), applying updates and configuration checks, arranging penetration tests if needed.

It is essential that you are educated to degree level, with relevant experience. You will have extensive experience of deploying workloads across virtualisation platforms at scale, and experience of cloud platform engineering for production services. Your new role
Full time
Shift work: 2 nights, 2 days, 4 off.
Annual salary: £36,000 - £38,000 + £5,000 Shift allowance + Overtime available
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer who can provide a reactive and proactive maintenance service as per project requirements for all operational equipment.
You will be responsible for:

• Carrying out modifications and installations when required.
• Maintaining, repairing and calibrating electrical instrumentation plant to optimise both reliability and maintainability.
• Provide a service that ensures all key performance indicators are met and liaise with contractors or external suppliers.
• Responsible for ensuring own work and the work of those under supervision is completed in a safe and diligent manner.
• Happy to pick up maintenance duties which need completing.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in this position, you will need:

• NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance
• Good knowledge of building statutory compliance

Your new role
In your new role, you will act as a technical interface for customers and subcontractors, identifying and understanding their needs. You will capture and manage engineering requirements, developing innovative solutions to meet these needs. You will create and manage system budgets, such as power and mass budgets, and analyse performance to justify design decisions. You will oversee various engineering disciplines during design, integration, and testing, planning and executing test campaigns. You will troubleshoot hardware and software issues for space missions, analyse test data, and compile reports. Additionally, you will provide clear and thorough documentation and ensure the delivery of verified flight equipment that meets customer specifications.

What you'll need to succeed
As the successful candidate, you will be enthusiastic about space exploration, keen to solve complex challenges, and a committed team player who proactively shares knowledge, and you will bring over two years of experience in the design, manufacture, and testing of complex technological systems, with a background in optics, optical sensors, and opto-mechanical assemblies. You will be able to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating excellent written and oral communication skills. You will be familiar with formal configuration control methods and have knowledge of qualifications and acceptance of environmental testing. You will have experience of developing test specifications, plans, and procedures. Additionally, you will have experience with optic design software like Zemax or OpticStudio, including familiarity with ECSS standards, and experience working with systems designed for space environments. Ideally, you will also have experience with programming languages such as Python, MATLAB/C or C++, with hands-on experience in manufacturing, assembly, and testing. You will possess good analytical skills for identifying root cause issues, be able to define test cases to expose problems and develop robust solutions, and be flexible in understanding the need for change due to business re-focus. You will be willing to travel to other locations for project delivery, able to plan and execute assigned work on schedule, be detail-oriented, and able to clearly communicate tasks, schedules, and priorities with team members.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Suggest improvements to projects to drive efficiency, capability, and safety.
• Conducting electrical and mechanical maintenance activities across the plant.
• Changing motors, contactors, electrical control panel faults, fault finding and electrical installation
• Interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Involve planned preventive maintenance activities alongside reactive maintenance tasks
• Troubleshooting relay control circuits.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
