The South Locality Team is one of two Core Community Mental Health Teams (North and South) that together would cover the borough of Enfield. Principal duties will include: Senior clinical leadership to the team and responsibility for the medical care of patients under the care of team.
The team is a multidisciplinary team comprising of medical staff, nurses, social workers, psychologists and specialist substance misuse workers responsible for the care of patients requiring secondary mental health services.

Currently community services are undergoing transformation as part of the NHS long term plan with investment to support services to offer more personalized care aligned to primary care networks, with better access to psychological therapy and trauma-informed care for people with mental health problems. Work is underway to better integrate care offered across primary and secondary-care, with more joined-up work with partners in the local authority and voluntary sector.

The post-holder will have the opportunity to provide senior medical leadership as the service develops, playing a central role in ensuring that changes are designed and implemented to improve services available to the local community.

The post-holder will work alongside Dr Antonio Albanese, part-time consultant psychiatrist to the service and current Clinical Director for Enfield Community and Older Adult Services.

Formed in 2001 through the merger of its predecessor organizations, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH-MHT) continues to innovate and develop at a fast pace. We are a large mental health trust in London with an annual budget of £337 million and employing more than 3,300 staff. The Enfield South Locality Team is part of the Enfield Community Mental Health Services. Other teams include the Enfield North Locality Team; the Enfield Community Rehab Team; the Enfield Early Intervention Service; the Enfield Complex Emotional Needs Service; and the Enfield Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team. The Enfield Community Mental Health Team for Older Adults and the Enfield Memory Service are also included.

The Enfield Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team holds a caseload between on average 30 - 40 clients and works closely with the inpatient teams as part of their role as gatekeepers for hospital admissions.

The Enfield Acute Services are based at Chase Farm Hospital and include 4 inpatient general adult wards (one of which is a male PICU), a male rehabilitation ward (Somerset villa), and 3 other Older Adult inpatient wards.

Community Services have an established and close working relationship with the Psychiatric Liaison Service at the North Middlesex University Hospital, which runs a dedicated psychiatric A&E unit called “Horizon”. There are also close links with the Psychiatric Liaison Service at Barnet General Hospital. There are Health Based Places of Safety (HBPoS) at Chase Farm Hospital and Highgate, and patients from BEH also have access to the Mental Health Crisis Assessment Centre (MHCAS) provided by Camden and Islington. The Enfield Urgent Care Service is supported by the Enfield Local Authority Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHP) service.

The Enfield Consultant body is a close-knit group of 15 colleagues, mostly holding substantive posts, which meet regularly in formal and informal meetings scheduled on a weekly basis via MS teams on a Monday. Various issues arediscussed i.e. local and trust-wide managerial issues, vacancies, training concerns, etc. The Clinical Directors (CDs) and Enfield Associate Clinical Director (ACD) regularly attend this meeting and update the consultant body. Consultants are actively encouraged and supportive to take on management and leadership roles and to contribute to the broader strategic planning of the Trust. There are regular trust academic conferences (trust wide academic program on Wednesday afternoons via MS Teams) and trust corporate conferences (twice yearly).

The consultant group has an established culture of mutual support, collaborative working and shared decision making. In addition to this, the partnership holds joint Medical and Clinical Advisory Groups for all consultants, currently virtual and 2-monthly although this program is subject to review.

Consultants are expected to regularly attend the weekly consultant meeting and the weekly academic program. Whilst several CPD peer groups have formed within Enfield, the consultants are also encouraged to seek peer groups outside the organization as an opportunity to network and share experience with colleagues from other services. A monthly Balint-Group for consultants has re-started. This gives opportunity to conduct in-depth case-based discussions (CbD) required for annual appraisals and revalidation. New consultants (up to five years following appointments) are encourages to link in as a group and are supported by the Medical Leads during their induction. New consultants are also encouraged to make use of the Start Well program facilitated by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. All new consultants are given the opportunity to seek a mentor within or outside the organization as part of their job plan.

The post also comes at a time of extra resources being made available to the community services to have a broader remit to engage clients who are traditionally caught between primary and secondary care, offer help at the point of crisis (with the aim of cutting waiting times) and offering evidence based psychological treatment and physical health monitoring in line with national standards. The increased recruitment of voluntary care sector staff is with the awareness that clinical care accounts for only 20% of health outcomes, while socioeconomic, behavioural, and environmental factors determine the remaining 80%.

Haringey CAMHS are looking to recruit CWPs to continue to improve children and young people’s mental health services in Haringey. The training forms part of the service transformation initiative delivered by NHS England as part of the Children and Young People’s Psychological Trainings (CYP-PT) programme.

This is a training position post holder will undertake training at Kings College London alongside working in service for Haringey CAMHS. They will be taught to deliver evidence based guided self-help interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The post holder will use their newly developed skills to support children and young people who are referred into the service and trainees will receive supervision to support their professional development.

To provide a specialist clinicalpsychology service to clients served by theNorth Central London Home Treatment Team, and Beacon Day Service. This will includeproviding psychological assessment and short term individual and group therapy to clients, including risk assessment and management. You will be a Senior Practitioner within the Learning Disability and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder Keyworker Service for Barnet Enfield and Haringey: providing direct support to children with learning disabilities and/or autism with mental health needs and/or presenting with behaviours of concern.



The LD/ASD Keyworker Service provides intensive interventions for children and young people who are part of the LD & ASD cohort. The aim is to keep children, young people in the community, to prevent avoidable admissions to Tier 4 inpatient mental health services and 52-week residential placements, and to support young people in this cohort, to be discharged from Tier 4 services and be supported back into the community.



You will be liaising and coordinating with a range of teams and organisations across Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey, including CAMHS providers, social care teams, Tier 4 providers, schools, and other community health providers.

The post offered is that of Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry (10PA), working in the Barnet North Core Community Team. The team is aligned to the Primary Care GP Locality in the North of the Borough. The post holder will share consultant lead responsibilities with one full-time substantive consultant in the service, ensuring high quality, patient-centered, effective and safe care is delivered by the team. This post will have responsibility for adults with complex mental health presentations. The North Team is one of three adult core community teams (previously known as locality teams) within Barnet (North, South and West).
The team is multi-disciplinary and consists of professionals from a number of backgrounds including nursing, social work, psychiatry, psychology, occupational therapy, graduate mental health workers and community engagement workers and are supported by a dedicated admin team. The care delivered is recovery-focused which involves a change in focus from managing problems and symptoms to focusing on an individual’s strengths and goals for the future. The service is for adults experiencing a range of mental health difficulties and who may also have complex needs that would be best met by secondary mental health services.

As part of this the post holder will have the opportunity of having a more senior consultant as a mentor. The post holder will have consultant and RC responsibility for a defined caseload of service users under the care of the Barnet West Core Community Mental Health Team.
The post holder will provide assessment of new patients and clinical supervision of assessments carried out by other team members; making formulations using a biopsychosocial model. This team provide a range of evidence informed interventions to children and adolescents up to Age 18 identified as requiring specialist CAMHS to address mental health and emotional wellbeing needs. This post holder will offer systemic psychotherapy to children and families presenting with a broad range of mental health concerns and contribute to the range of clinical work offered by Generic CAMHS. This is an exciting opportunity to continue the development of Trauma Informed Practice within the
psychological provision in these services. The post holder will lead on this initiative with support from

This role is part of an exciting expansion of the Barnet CEN Pathway. The remit of the new DBT Service is to offer Barnet residents referred into the service a consistent evidence-based therapeutic approach, to reduce inpatient admissions and to support the quick transitions of those in an inpatient service back into the community.

The post holder will be supporting the DBT Lead in setting up this new pathway and you will be working closely with the Barnet Younger Adult Psychological Service and Complex Emotional Needs pathway team.

The role will include supporting the service development, reporting on implementation and agreed outcomes, as well as to supervise and support the screening, referrals, assessments and group or individual therapy provided by other clinical members of the DBT team.

· To provide specialist psychological assessments of clientsbased upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care.

· To formulate and implement DBT focused treatment plans, in particular identifying repeating patterns of crisis and advise ways of altering these, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client’s problems

NHS England/Improvement has developed a new Framework to support local systems in implementing the NHS Long Term Plan’s vision for transforming community mental health care.

The role of Clinical Practice Specialist Extended Hour service is fundamental to the developing of these innovative new ways of working. The role will support the ongoing development and mobilisation of integrated mental health service offer. The role provides and promotes flexible and responsive access to assessment, treatment and/or onward bridging to community resources and support, in line with evidence based interventions for people with serious mental illness. The role will help people to focus on achievable goals and access local community resources.

The service offer will be for people over 18 years who are experiencing mental health difficulties but with a specific focus on: inequality of access by ensuring availability of mixture of in-person face-to-face and remote (telephone, video or online) appointments Monday to Friday 8-8pm. This is especially for those who struggle to access/receive support via the traditional 9-5 operating hours.

The post holder will provide high quality care and a safe and therapeutic environment to patients experiencing mental health problems / physical health difficulties.

· Provide follow up care for service users who are difficult to engage or struggling to access care and support through the traditional 9-5 operating hours as well as offer care and support to other service user who requires support within 8-8pm.

Work closely with colleagues in specialist community mental health services to ensure smooth transitions between teams and services and facilitate an ‘easy in, easy out’ approach to improve access to evidence based interventions.
