A fantastic opportunity to join our Community Dermatology Service as a Healthcare Assistant around the Blackburn and Central Lancashire area This role is ideal for somebody who enjoys working independently, while being a part of a supportive and friendly team, working together to make a difference to how health services are delivered to patients. An ideal candidate would have previous experience as Healthcare Assistant in a GP practice, hospital, or any other clinical setting with a passion for making the patient journey as comfortable as possible. Following full training, you will be supporting our dermatologists and nurses in face-to-face clinics as well as assisting with minor procedures, you will also conduct your own medical photography clinics where you will complete questionnaires with patients and take some specialised images. There are 40 hours per week available over Monday to Friday, however weekend work may sometimes be required. You will be working based on the rota with clinics starting as early as 8 am and finishing as late as 6pm. You will ensure the clinic is always fully stocked and tidy and assist with stock check and ordering supplies. You need to be able to enter notes into electronical patient records You would be a part of a friendly team who all strive to deliver excellent dermatology care to our patients. Detailed job description and main responsibilities This post will be based within the Acute Conditions Research Team, supporting research studies within various disciplines including but not exclusively, Anaesthetics, ICU, Surgery, ED/Trauma, MSK and Stroke.You will be working as part of our small, friendly team, responsible for identifying, recruiting and supporting patients throughout their research journey. The post is primarily based at Blackburn Royal Teaching Hospital. However, the post holder may also be expected to support trials at Burnley General Teaching Hospital and other Trust sites, to meet the needs of our patients and studies. Therefore flexibility is an essential attribute. Most of the research activity is undertaken Monday to Friday within normal office hours. However, research activity times may also vary and early starts (7:30 onwards) or late finishes (after 5pm) may be required to accommodate studies involving morning theatre lists & late running clinics. This will always be on a planned basis & a flexible working policy is in place.Our team ethos is to maximize the potential of our own, individual skills. Transcription and production, from digital dictation and audio-tape, of typewritten reports/correspondence, using word processing packages, for the medical teams, which may include outpatient reports, detailed discharge summaries, operation notes and other relevant clinical and non clinical correspondence. This may include correspondence that is time-sensitive (such as complaints) ensuring information is dictated and typed within any designated time limits. Type medico-legal summaries, maintain medico-legal files and liaise with legal department in respect of medico-legal cases Manage patient investigation results effectively including maintaining systems for monitoring and retrieving outstanding investigations and responsibility for chasing up missing/delayed results. Retrieve patient results from ICE/CRIS systems, ensuring that results are available as soon as possible Check all incoming laboratory/radiology results, ensuring that abnormal results are communicated promptly to appropriate Clinician. Will be required to instigate appropriate referrals to other disciplines in respect of specific abnormalities in line with Departmental protocols. Ensure all reports are seen and signed by Clinician prior to filing in case-notes. Main responsibilities To provide leadership for change and service improvement within Suspected Skin Cancer Pathways. To advance the development and practice of cancer nursing in line with national recommendations and standards where available for Suspected Skin Cancer. To collaborate with Allied Healthcare Professionals and Consultants, ensuring the advancement of cancer care and support through a combined approach. To liaise closely with the other Clinical and non-clinical workforce within Lancashire and South Cumbria to implement the Virtual Centralised Triage for Suspected Skin Cancer. To have understanding and insight of the implemented digital platform and liaise with company staff to ensure safe and timely patient care To maintain clinical competence and credibility, acting as a role model for best practice, ensuring that nursing care is provided to a high standard, in response to changing services and patient needs. To work alongside the Clinical Lead for Skin as the Trust leads for Suspected Skin Cancer Transformation to implement recommendations. Ensure strong professional leadership, working with the members of the MDT including Skin consultants, ACPs and Clinical Nurse Specialists to support high standards of care. To ensure patients, carers and their families are empowered and educated in respect of self-care and sustainable lifestyle changes. To work horizontally within the Lancashire and South Cumbria advising and supporting senior nursing colleagues on the delivery of local cancer services. The main duties and responsibilities described above are not exhaustive and the post holder can expect to take on other responsibilities or specific tasks as required. Develop and implement strategic plans and objectives for the new service, aligned with the overall organisational goals and objectives and those of the Perinatal Pelvic Health Services Service Specification published 16/10/23. Oversee and provide strong clinical leadership and service management as well as providing specialist care. You will support training, education and development for other staff in the PPHS team including healthcare professionals, administrative staff, students and support personnel. You will promote a positive working culture and foster professional development. You will carry a clinical caseload and work in specialist clinical practice as the lead Perinatal Pelvic Health physiotherapist, addressing clinical challenges and providing highly clinical specialist pelvic health physiotherapy for patients with complex needs. This includes optimising multi-professional care and improving pathways of care through direct clinical care and problem resolution for the Lancashire and South Cumbria PPHS. To lead and support audit and research projects and identify opportunities for research in relation to Pelvic Health services in order to evaluate service delivery. To regularly review clinical practice delivery in light of new models of care and clinical transformation programmes across the LMNS, and to identify new ways of working, this includes the advancement of advanced clinical skills in this post of self and others. Manage and review the service budget, in partnership with the ICB. Ensure the service operates within allocated budgets.
