The role will provide cover to a range of paediatric medical and surgical specialties on a rotational basis and will be fully supported by a large team of experienced pharmacists and technical staff. 1. 2. Regularly visit wards, working closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team involved in providing seamless patient care.
3. Using knowledge and expertise contribute to the cost effective, safe and efficient prescribing and utilisation of medicines and improve patient experience.
4. Advise all health care professionals on the safe, appropriate and cost-effective use of medicines.
5. Promote the safe, efficient and rational prescribing of medicines in line with current trust policies. Record pharmaceutical interventions and attend clinical meetings as required.
6. Provide a comprehensive and thorough enquiry answering service and answer pharmaceutical enquiries related to the hospital’s specialist services. Liaise with directorate and regional drug information services as required.
7. Ensure that agreed local and national guidelines, policies and procedures are affected at ward level.
8. To report medication errors, incidents and complaints using the appropriate trust systems

Applications are invited for the full-time post of Specialty Doctor in Oncology. The post holder will be based on the Weston site of the Trust, within the Division of Specialised Services. Along with senior nursing staff, the successful applicant will be part of a core team dedicated to the care of day patients and for liaison with pharmacy, dietetics and palliative care teams as required.

The post-holder will be responsible for the continuity of patient care for patients being treated on the Oncology Day Unit, as well as clinically supporting the specialties of Lung and GI Oncology. This will also include supervision of patients admitted to the medical wards with chemotherapy related side effects and other cancer related problems, working together with the ward based medical staff. The post-holder will be part of the acute oncology team aiming to improve acute oncology services within the trust for patients with cancer or suspected cancer.

The post-holder will be responsible for the continuity of patient care for patients being treated on the Oncology Day Unit. This will include supervision of patients admitted to the medical wards with chemotherapy related side effects and other cancer related problems, working together with the ward based medical staff. The post-holder will be part of the acute oncology team aiming to improve acute oncology services within the trust for patients with cancer or suspected cancer.

The Specialty Doctor will be responsible to the attending Consultant Oncologist and consultant advice will be available at all times as appropriate. The post-holder will be, with senior nursing staff, part of a core team dedicated to the care of day patients and for liaison with pharmacy, dietetics and palliative care teams as required.

Procedures in the Oncology Day Unit will include supervision of the administration of intra-venous chemotherapy, assessment of some patients prior to chemotherapy administration, assessment of new urgent cases, appropriate follow up of recently discharged patients.

The post-holder will be expected to participate in oncology clinics with the consultants, including clinics to support the recruitment, follow-up and management of patients participating in clinical trials. There will be good support from clinical trials staff within these clinics.

As a member of the Pharmacy technician team you will provide safe and effective pharmacy support to the dispensary and adult wards within UHBW. You will contribute to clinical projects, quality improvement programmes and teaching through developing management, leadership and educational skills in conjunction with the lead pharmacists in medicine.

The Laboratory Medicine department has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team. The post holder will be working within Haematology, Clinical Biochemistry and Specimen Reception. The post holder will contribute to the diagnosis and treatment of patients within the hospital by providing technical, scientific and data entry assistance to the Biomedical Scientists and other Departmental staff. The post holder will take part in the shift rota which which includes weekend and night shifts.

The working pattern in this role is rota based. Therefore your contracted hours of 37.5 per week (full time working equivalent) will be calculated across a rota period of 13 weeks in accordance with agenda for change. Dependant on the needs of the service, your total working hours will fluctuate due to the different length of time of the shifts, however as part of rota management your shifts will balance to be within your contracted time.

The post holder will be part of a team providing a diagnostic Blood Sciences service to the Trust. The team comprises Medical Laboratory Assistants (MLA), Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners, Clinical Scientists, Healthcare Scientists, clerical staff and Medical staff. This is an exciting opportunity to become a member of the WATCh Service as the Service Sister / Charge Nurse. The successful applicant will join an experienced, innovative, and passionate team that is continuously striving for improvement. The post has existed for less than one year, so it is still evolving.

WATCh is one of 12 Paediatric Critical Care Transport Services in the UK that covers one of the largest geographical areas. This 24 hour Service is commissioned to provide advice and where necessary the transport of critically ill children from the 22 district general hospitals in South Wales and South West England. WATCh works in collaboration with the Tertiary Children’s Hospitals in Bristol and Cardiff to ensure that all children have access to specialist care.

The post has a mix of clinical and non-clinical duties to allow the post holder to maintain their clinical skills and clinical credibility. The post holder will work closely with the Lead Nurse and the Clinical Lead to deliver the day-to-day operational / logistical and strategic management of the Service, whilst acting as a resource for the clinical and non-clinical team members. As a senior member of the team they will be expected to contribute to Quality Improvement projects, deliver change and disseminate best practice.

The post holder will need to demonstrate natural leadership skills and be a role model for the team and, when required, will be delegated responsibility for the service in the absence of the Lead Nurse. The role will also contribute to the out of hours, senior nurse, on call rota.

Applicantsmust have significant post registration experience in Paediatric Critical Care or a related speciality, as well as Band 6 / 7 experience within a paediatric or neonatal critical care transport service.

The Health Play Specialist is member of the Play Team who works within the Play Department to implement safe, high quality play programmes covering all aspects of hospital play provision, which meet patients emotional, social, developmental and creative needs.

An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse on Ward C805, Cardiology, in the Bristol Heart Institute.

The post is full-time and temporary until April 2025 whilst the current post holder is on a secondment. You will be expected to work a full range of shifts including long days, shorter shifts, weekends and nights.

We are looking for a dynamic experienced Nurse - Adult Registered who would like to develop their leadership skills. The post holder will be an experienced Band 5/6 nurse with cardiology experience who demonstrates excellent team working along with good communication and organisational skills.

The successful candidate will be supported to develop in their role and to lead by example to deliver excellence in patient care. You will be expected to be able to work as part of a team and lead that team to deliver the highest possible standards of patient care.

The Heart Institute is a tertiary cardiac centre and treats patients from across the south west with complex cardiac conditions. Ward C805 has 30 inpatient beds plus 4 boarding beds. It provides care to patients with a wide range of acute cardiology issues such as acute coronary syndrome, arrhythmia, heart failure, valve disease and congenital heart defects.

The successful candidate will work in conjunction with an experienced nursing team to provide support and clinical expertise to all staff. They will also be supported in developing their managerial skills and extending their clinical skills and knowledge.

The post holder will be able to:
• Act as a clinical expert providing specialist knowledge and advice to both nurses and junior medical staff working within the unit. Act as a resource to other areas within the Trust as required.
• Work towards safe and timely discharge plans and ensure barriers to discharge are identified and acted on in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Be proactive in supporting the nursing team and acting as a positive role model always promoting best clinical and professional practice.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills. Be actively involved in recruitment and staff development reviews. Facilitate orientation and training programmes.
• Act as nurse or ward representative at local and wider meetings.
• Participate and assist with systematic monitoring of performance and evaluation of nursing practice.
