The Acute Assessment and Frailty Team (AAFT) are looking to recruit one Band 6 Occupational Therapist. This service provides a high level of holistic assessment and care for the frail population within the hospital.

We are looking for dynamic individuals with medical, elderly care or frailty experience to provide specialist frailty assessments and treatments as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions using evidence based/best practice.

The successful applicants will be highly motivated, flexible and innovative therapists. Good communication, time management and organisational skills are essential and you should be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. You will be responsible for supervising and training junior therapy staff and assistants.



It is essential that you have current HCPC registration and recognised qualifications as an Occupational Therapist.

Ward 15 is a 29 bedded male respiratory ward that supports patients with a range of respiratory conditions including those requiring NIV or tracheostomy care.

Job Description The purpose of this post is to provide senior nursing input to the East of England Gambling Service, in order to deliver the highest standard of care in line with latest national guidelines and standards, Addictions and Trust policies and procedures and statutory frameworks governing patient care in the NHS. Department:Hand Therapy Unit

Band 6 - £35,393 - £42,618 per annum

Hours: Full Time – 37.5/week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Hand therapist, Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist, to our highly regarded Hand Therapy Unit, which is a busy, friendly department treating all types of hand / wrist problems. We work closely with our Orthopaedic and Hand surgeons, Rheumatologists, Emergency Department and with our local GPs.

We are looking for a candidate with proven hand therapy skills which should include a good understanding of thermoplastic splinting and wound management. The candidate should ideally have achieved a minimum of BAHT Level 1

The successful applicant will be highly motivated, flexible and an innovative therapist. Good communication, time management and organisational skills are essential and you should be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.

To assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions using evidence based/best practice.

To be responsible for own case load within a defined clinical area, or a particular patient type working without direct supervision but with support, as required.

To utilise the expertise of senior staff in order to develop skills and knowledge and consolidate learning.

To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.

To work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.

To train and develop junior staff.

To undertake evidence based audit to further own and teams clinical practice. Make recommendations to Manager / Team Leader regarding changes to practice and/or service policies and protocols. May lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols.

To represent therapies as a visible, knowledgeable, confident, supportive and high performing professional group.

Clinical

To be professional and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of patients in your care.

To undertake the comprehensive assessment of patients, including those with a complex presentation/multi-pathology; using advanced investigative and analytical skills and to formulate individualised management and treatment plans, using clinical reasoning and utilising a wide range of treatment skills and options to formulate a specialised programme of care and signpost to other specialist or services revaluating as appropriate.

Professional

To comply with the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct of the relevant professional body.

To be responsible for maintaining own competency to practice through continuing professional development (CPD) by keeping abreast of any new trends and developments and incorporate, as necessary, in your work. Maintain a portfolio which reflects personal development.

Organisational

To be responsible for the supervision and co-ordination of junior staff, assistants and students on a daily bases in conjunction with the team leader/senior therapists, as required.

To ensure that your own practice and that of staff under your supervision, meet the required professional standards of physiotherapy practice.

The NMP will be responsible for assistance in the medicines management and prescribing for new service users and those requiring reviews, working in collaboration with the Consultant Psychiatrist, GPs, Pharmacy Service and relevant others. Timely communication with GPs re: NMP clinic Care Plan/treatment outcomes. Working collaboratively with the teams Physical Health Support Worker (PHSW) to ensure service user yearly physical health checks are meeting the CNWL (tableau) requirements and the EIP Service is NICE concordant. To work as an autonomous practitioner in a multidisciplinary team, responsible for the delivery of treatments, can also assess diagnosed and undiagnosed patients within the individuals scope of practice and CNWL prescribing formulary to the EIT patient population. Create holistic treatment plans in a person-centred approach.

Ensure nursing practice is in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and Mental Health Legislation, which incorporates and respects differences in gender, sexuality, ethnicity, religion, culture and disability. To provide and develop in conjunction with the Sector Manager, the multi-disciplinary team and other relevant agencies, a service for clients, which takes account of individuals physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs. To participate in effective nursing assessment of care needs, providing a high standard of care to patients in the unit, in keeping with the philosophy and operational policies of the Prison, in addition to Trust policies and procedures. Monitor the effectiveness of care delivery and ensure clinical records are of a high standard. Manage a House unit and administer medications / attending emergency codes and management of all the medical situations and care for the patients.
