We are seeking a physician who is board certified/board eligible (BC/BE) in Emergency Medicine (ABEM/AOBEM), BC in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine to staff the Emergency Department (ED) and ensure compliance with Veterans Health Administration guidelines for ED at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center. This will include developing and implementing improved ED processes and business practices. This position is full time direct clinical care. The Fayetteville VA Medical Center Emergency Department provides care to approximately 28,000 patients per year. Patients seen have a wide range of medical problems, with the exclusion of major Trauma.

The incumbent is responsible for the daily administrative and clinical operations of the ED and reports to the Emergency Department Service (EDS). The incumbent will, as defined by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, admit, evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment. The incumbent will take part in continuing medical education and quality assurance activities. The highest degree of good judgment, ethical behavior and professional demeanor is always required in the incumbents contact with patients, peers and all other employees.

Must be available for "on call" for clinical coverage during non-clinical contact hours as identified on the published schedule. "On call" is defined as the ability to be on station within one hour. As the Employee Travel Program Coordinator, the employee is technically responsible for employee travel activity at the FHCC. The Team:

The George Town District Hospital and Community Services provide 15 acute care beds, physiotherapy, dental and podiatry services, and other visiting providers. Other services provided by the Hospital include Palliative care, Community Nursing, Home Help/Personal Care.
Nursing quarters are available, co-located on site for staff to utilise with shared kitchen and bathroom amenities.
George Town Hospital is approximately a 35-minute drive from Launceston, George Town Hospital is centrally located, close to supermarkets/eateries and a five-minute drive to the beaches of Low Head.

The Role:

In collaboration with members of the healthcare team plan, implement and evaluate patient/client care.
Interact effectively with patients/clients families and other health team members to facilitate the provision of optimum patient/client care.
Active involvement in maintaining and continually improving the quality of patient/client care. This may include participation in research and evidence-based practice.
