Major Duties Include:

• Coordinates and facilitates with service line SME's in the development, evaluation, facilitation, documentation, analysis and coordination of short term, mid-term, and long-range plans, programs, and performance improvement projects within VAMHCS to ensure compliance with regulatory standards associated with national accrediting organizations including but not limited to OIG, TJC and LTCI as well as compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Life Safety Code, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other regulations required and enforced by federal, state and local levels.

The Specialist assists supported leaders in understanding the requirements of the accreditation manuals relevant to their service/care center/department, and will assist in the development, direction and implementation of policies pertaining to the requirements of the various services/care centers/departments.

Major Duties include but are not limited to:

• Providing policing services in a variety of jurisdictional environments, where each type of jurisdiction (Exclusive, Concurrent, and Proprietorial) has different enforcement rules and requires Police Officers to understand the complexities and legally apply the correct set of laws, regulations, and processes.
• Provides services routinely at all segments of VA facilities located over large geographical areas, some of which may be in different states, counties, municipalities, or townships.

The Infection Preventionist (IP) Registered Nurse (RN) executes position responsibilities to improve patient and organizational outcomes. The IP is responsible for providing expert, evidence-based infection control practices. The IP establishes surveillance indicators and conducts monitoring to identify and reduce the risk of acquiring and transmitting infections among patients, employees, visitors, and students. The Patient Safety Program Manger (PSM) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for trending and analyzing incidents across the facility; participating in the Patient Safety Committee; interpreting VA handbooks and directives regarding Patient Safety; and monitoring of the quality and progress of root cause analyses and follow-up actions to ensure implementation of system changes. The Patient Safety Program Nurse develops strategies to disseminate "lessons learned" and will be the content expert for the VA Maryland Health Care System. He/she participates in the development of innovative approaches to the establishment, enhancement, modification, and /or improvement of care with a focus on Patient Safety.

The PSM coordinates and implements patient safety policies and activities developed by the National Center for Patient Safety (NCPS) and is the facility's key person to help build and implement patient safety systems and promote the culture of safety within Veterans Health Administration (VHA) facilities and for Veteran patients in all healthcare settings.

The PSM has primary responsibility for training clinicians, management, and all relevant support personnel within their facilities, about the patient safety program and patient safety analyses processes. They are responsible for maintaining clear communication between the facility and the Veterans Integrated Systems Network (VISN), to communicate relevant patient safety information and promote organizational learning and directly supports facility leadership in areas of planning, organization, development, direction and evaluation of the patient safety program within the facility.

The Cardiac Catheterization/Electrophysiology Laboratory (CCL) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based procedural care to assigned patients with oversight of staff, including but not limited to licensed vocational/practical nurses or health technicians/nursing assistants, as appropriate in the pre/post procedural setting. The CCL RN provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education and coaching. The CCL RN delivers and manages the care of patients undergoing therapeutic and diagnostic cardiology procedures including both inpatients and outpatients.

The CCL RN assesses the patients physical and mental status prior to procedures, educates on procedural and pre/post-procedural care, and documents responses to interventions, findings, and reports any changes. Partners with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team to promote effective and safe transitions across the health care continuum, including the Veteran's goals of care.

The CCL RN has fundamental experience with the situations in which they are ultimately expected to perform, integrating theoretical concepts, basic critical thinking skills, and technically skilled practice. The CCL RN may function in several roles to include, pre-procedure assessments, post procedural recovery, and assisting physicians during procedures. They maintain proficiency on the maintenance, cleaning, and preparation of cardiology specific equipment. They recognize changes in patient care situations and initiate appropriate emergency actions. Adapts to changes in the daily schedule. May be assigned call, in which the CCL RN will follow all facility policies regarding response time.

Preferred candidate should be flexible in taking several roles to include, pre-procedure assessments, post procedural recovery, and assisting providers during procedures. Candidate should be able to adapt to changes in the daily schedule. This nurse must have experience with the situations in which they are ultimately expected to perform, integrating theoretical concepts, strong critical thinking skills, and exhibits a robust technically skilled practice. Must have experience with moderate sedation, pre/post-procedural care, and able to document electronically responses to interventions, findings, vital signs and other pertinent information regarding nursing care.

The Nursing Officer of the Day (NOD) Registered Nurse (RN) executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to the management of complex patient care. The NOD demonstrates the ability to lead and organize the delivery of care to assure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice, including access to care and discharge planning. The NOD is an expert in the delivery of patient care and serves as the facility nursing expert at all hours to support, provide and facilitate emergency medical support throughout the facility.

The NOD uses advanced clinical knowledge and judgment to promote staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes. They function as an expert in clinical practice and/or areas related to the assigned roles and responsibilities for nursing. Systematically evaluates current practice and formulates outcomes for groups of patients and/or organizational processes within an area of expertise. Guides, develops, and supports staff from a leadership perspective using professional standards of care, scientific evidence, and practice to evaluate programs and/or service activities.

The NOD is an expert nurse who demonstrates expertise in leadership at the systems level that is sustainable, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex situations. The NOD assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for managing and directing employees, staffing units, and allocating resources as necessary during weekends, holidays, and after-hours tours during the absence of nursing management/leadership. The NOD is responsible for rounding and is a consultant to providers. Collaborates with the Administrative Officer of the Day (AOD) and other members of the interdisciplinary team as needed for decisions related to on-going patient care and actions taken in emergency situations and disasters. The NOD provides programmatic outcomes to nursing leadership to assist with improving organizational processes and the delivery of patient care.

DUTIES:
The MSA is able to independently manage position responsibilities with minimal supervision, as well as set priorities and deadlines, adjusting the flow and sequencing of the work to meet team and patient needs. The MSA functions as an expert authority for all tasks associated with patient enrollment and registration, admissions, outpatient scheduling, beneficiary travel, and identification and capture of insurance information and provides technical support to professional staff and other medical center employees, advising staff on appropriate administrative procedures to follow. The incumbent may be asked to work irregular shifts, holidays, and/or weekends, as needed.

Enrollment and Registration:

• The MSA receives and processes applicants for both inpatient and outpatient treatment including determination as to the patient's eligibility for medical benefits to include counseling patients, their families, and agency employees on entitlement to benefits, registers new patients with the VHA, entering complete and accurate data regarding income, insurance information, and patient demographics into the corporate record.
• The incumbent processes Veteran Identification Cards (VIC), as needed. He/she must use all photography equipment, hardware, and software required to complete the process of producing a VIC.
• The MSA is responsible for the full range of duties associated with decedent affairs to include determining and locating the legal next of kin of deceased patients so the physician may notify them of death and may also process all the necessary paperwork surrounding the death of a Veteran.

• The MSA performs administrative duties associated with the admission process. He/she completes all forms for admission and advises the Veteran of issues concerning safekeeping of valuables, personal funds, clothing, patient rights, and provides patients with information about advance directives, enter admissions into VHA systems accurately and timely.
• To facilitate emergent consents, the MSA must have knowledge of, and be familiar with the process, for obtaining telephonic consents.
• The MSA may perform duties associated with the discharge and transfer process ensuring all necessary data is entered into the system.

• The MSA has primary responsibility and accountability for all scheduling functions. This includes making, changing, and canceling patient appointments in accordance with clinic profiles and special instructions, as well as all applicable VHA regulations governing the scheduling process.
• The MSA is responsible for receiving and routing all Veterans who report to the facility for scheduled and unscheduled examinations and appointments, assuring that the patients are electronically checked in for their appointments.

• The MSA is responsible for explaining in detail to Veterans about upcoming appointments, ensuring they understand what they must do and where they must go to complete their work- up. When applicable, the MSA ensures the patient is scheduled for a return visit in accordance with orders from the provider.
• The MSA must be able to interpret and communicate requirements of VHA Scheduling Directives and complete accurate scheduling responsibilities that include scheduling appointments and utilizing the Electronic Waiting List accurately and in a timely manner.
• The MSA receives telephone calls and face-to-face inquiries from patients, families and friends of patients regarding scheduling appointments or requests for changes in scheduled appointments.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The professional registered nurse Outpatient RN CAP 2 may be an entry level designation into the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) for new employees who meet the RN CAP 2 criteria or attained through advancement from RN CAP 1. This position is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of clinically competent care including assessment planning intervention and evaluation for an assigned group of patients. This may include delegation of appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff including but not limited to RNs LVN/LPNs and Patient Care Technicians. As a member of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) health care team this position participates in decision-making teaching leadership functions and quality improvement activities that enhance patient care outcomes and facility operations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

All duties and responsibilities are expected to be performed in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy procedures standards of nursing practice state and federal regulations.

• Performs all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator Preceptor or in collaboration with other Registered Nurses.
• Performs ongoing systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre – during – post hemodialysis treatment for assigned patients and documents in the patient medical record makes adjustments or modifications to treatment plan as indicated and notifies Team Leader Charge Nurse Supervisor or Physician as needed.
• Assesses collaborates and documents patient/family’s basic learning needs to provide initial and ongoing education to patients and family.
• Directs and provides in collaboration with direct and ancillary patient care staff all aspects of the daily provision of safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients.
• Administers medications as prescribed or in accordance with approved algorithm(s) and documents appropriate medical justification and effectiveness.
• Initiates or assists with emergency response measures.
• Serves as a resource leader coach mentor and role model for new and incumbent employees by setting examples of appropriate behavior work habits and attitudes towards patients co-workers supervisors and the company at the facility and area level. 
• Ensures correct laboratory collection processing and shipping procedures are performed and reschedules missed or insufficient laboratory collections.
• Identifies expected outcomes documents and updates the nursing assessment and plan of care for assigned patients through collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.
• Ensures patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options.
• Participates in education and quality improvement projects at the facility and area level as directed by Supervisor.
• May serve as a Preceptor to new employees.

SUMMARY

The Data Analytics Developer provides Tableau Dashboard Development support to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH) Department of Informatics. Provides informatics guidance to organizational leadership related to information management practices, workflows, requirements gathering and analytics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. 

Works with computers and networks to assist the Department of Informatics with the flow of data in Healthcare Analytics.

Develops SQL database queries, SSRS reports, Tableau Reports/Views and Dashboards, as well as automated emails to meet organizational requirements. 

Tableau Server Management: Creation and Maintenance of Users, Groups, Schedules, Data Sources and Data Extracts.

Performs Software/System Design.

Performs System Documentation/Knowledge Management.

Maintains strong working relationships with team members and stakeholders.

Utilizes depth of reporting and tool specific expertise to recommend leading edge solutions. 

Works with key stakeholders to elicit business requirements, design validation, and user acceptance testing.

Troubleshoots incidents surrounding supported solutions.
