Oncology at GSTFT has entered a new and exciting phase with a state-of-the-art Cancer Centre on the Guys site. The Cancer Centre at Guys Hospital opened in September 2016, this provides a single point for both diagnosis and treatment. The Richard Dimbleby Cancer Information and Support Service| offers people with cancer information; complementary therapies and psychological support to help them and their families cope with their illness. Cancer Care data: Number of ambulatory day care beds/chairs (outpatients): 44 chairs (these are based in the Chemotherapy Day Unit and the Haematology Day Unit respectively). 10 beds (these are based in several locations across the Day Units). Number of inpatient beds: There are 802 beds at the St Thomass site and 288 beds at Guys site. A total of 1090 beds across sites. 84 (core beds, made up of Medical Oncology, Clinical Haematology, Breast & Thoracic) Main place of employment: The post will be primarily based at the Guys Hospital site. However, it is a requirement of your employment that you be prepared to work at any additional or different location owned or served by the Trust, either on an on-going or temporary basis according to the demands of the service. This could sites across St Thomass or Queen Marys Sidcup, Queen Elizabeth Woolwich, Princess Royal Hospital (Kent) or other hospitals within our cancer service. Job Summary: The post-holder will be assigned to one or two cancer tumour-type teams at any one time, working closely with a team of oncology consultants. Post-holders will rotate through a variety of tumour types over time and are encouraged to document their achievements and progress. A consultant will be assigned as your supervisor to oversee your progress. The post will be largely outpatient based with up to four oncology clinics a week supervised by our consultants. Post-holders will be trained to prescribe systemic anti-cancer treatments and to manage toxicities. The post-holder will participate in clinical, research and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care. This will include scheduled working on the oncology wards and the Acute Oncology Assessment Unit (AOAU). There are opportunities to be sub-investigators on clinical trials and work on clinical audits and quality improvement projects. Leadership opportunities are also available. The post-holder will participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training. A comprehensive weekly teaching programme is available including tumour-specific teaching and a journal club. The post-holder is required to follow Trust policies and procedures which are regularly updated. Duties and responsibilities: Clinical: The post-holder will, together with colleagues, be responsible for the provision of Oncology services to the Guys & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust to include: Diagnosis and treatment of patients of the Trust in such hospitals, health centres or clinics or other premises as required. Continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in your charge, allowing for all proper delegation to, and training of, your staff. The majority of the role will be in oncology outpatients, oncology wards or AOAU. Training of junior staff: The post-holders will take responsibility for the training and direction of junior staff allocated to him/her under aegis of the training plan that that post-holders has agreed with their supervising consultant. Teaching: The post-holder will be expected to contribute as appropriate in the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students. Clinical Governance: All medical and dental staff are expected to take part in clinical governance activity, including clinical audit, clinical guideline and protocol development and clinical risk management. Educational Programme: Neither the London Deanery not the Royal College of Physicians accredits this post for postgraduate training. The Rheumatology Research Team at University College London Hospital (UCLH) is expanding and are seeking two Band 5 Nurses to join the team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated operational manager to join our busy gynaecology team as a Service Delivery Manager.

The post holder will be joining a diverse multipdisciplinary team of clinicians and operational collegues.

The successful candidate will take a leading role in the day-to-day management of the clinics, including the new Single Point of Access, ensuring there are robust processes in place that enable clinic slots to be booked to optimum utilisation so that there are minimal DNA’s and cancellations and the correct patients are booked into each clinic.

The post holder will work closely with operational and clinical leads from the gynecological team, and will play a key part in supporting these teams to embed improved clinical pathways and service redesign initiatives in line with their clinical strategy.
You will be responsible for ensuring there are clear and transparent measures of success within the team, and for developing lines of communication both within the team and out into the organization that support effective dissemination of information and escalation.
You will line manage a Women’s Health Hub administrator, holding them accountable for meeting personal objectives and local and national targets, as well as supporting and nurturing them to develop their capabilities.

In return, we will develop your skills, knowledge and experience with formal and on-the-job training.

Your primary base will be the gynaecology offices in Whipps Cross Hospital. However, there is also flexibility for you to work from home where appropriate.

The Service Delivery Manager is responsible to the Project Manager for the overall performance of all aspects of the Single Point of Access and clinic management for the Women’s Health Hub. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day clinic management of these services to ensure that all patients are booked in accordance to the Trust Patient Access Policy.

The post holder will support the clinical teams to develop their services in accordance to their clinical strategy, ensuring efficient management of Women’s Health Hub clinics and wider gynaecology outpatient appointments. This will include Consultants, senior nursing and operational colleagues.

The post holder will be responsible for establishing and monitoring clear and transparent measures of success (KPIs) for the outpatient services, such as ensuring optimal utilization of clinics, reducing cancellations and decreasing the DNA rate whilst also ensuring a good patient experience that is safe and adheres to national and Trust guidelines.

You will support the directorate’s implementation of service improvement as appropriate and general development of services. You will pay a key part in supporting change as part of the review and improvement of care pathways alongside clinical teams.

Barts Health NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity for a band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our rotation at Whipps Cross Hospital (starting in the community).

This band 6 rotation covers the following specialities:
• Waltham Forest Community, supporting patients at home or in care home settings, as well as outpatients. You will be based at Whipps Cross Hospital.
• Integrated Stroke pathway, covering inpatients stroke unit and supporting patients on discharge home into the community
• Inpatient acute wardsincluding ICU

All applicants should be a qualified SLT, who are independent in the assessment and management of patients with dysphagia and communication impairment.

This rotation provides an excellent opportunity for existing band 6s’s or experienced band 5s wanting to take on increased responsibility, and to consolidate their knowledge and skills in managing more complex patients with acquired swallowing and communication impairment across a range of inpatient and community settings, within a friendly and supportive team.

There will also be opportunities to develop competencies in videofluoroscopy, tracheostomy, FEES and leadership and management skills e.g. supervising band 5 SLTs and students.

Regular supervision and in-house training will be provided to the successful applicant, which includes joint assessments and formal protected1:1 supervision. There are also excellent CPD opportunities within the SLT service and as part of the wider multidisciplinary team.

This post is part of Barts Health SLT Service. The therapist will work as a band 6 SLT within a set cog rotation across the adult SLT Acute, Waltham Forest Community SLT team and the Stroke pathway (inpatient/ community) at Whipps Cross University Hospital.

The post holder will be part of a team providing specialist assessment and treatment to adults in the inpatient and community settings, with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties . The post holder will provide intervention both uni-disciplinary and as part of a multi-professional team.

The post holder will work as part of the wider therapy team and be involved with service developments along designated clinical pathways. The post holder may be required to supervise band 5 SLT’s and band 3 staff if appropriate, and will be expected to support student speech and language therapists on their placements. The post holder will access support and supervision from a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist and Clinical Lead SLT.

Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Urological Surgeon based on the Newham and Whipps cross sites for Barts Health. We are looking for a Consultant Urological Surgeon to help with the overall workload of the Urology department. This post is to support the diagnostic and core urology work in the department.

Key duties will be supervising and running operating lists, acute and specialist clinics, diagnostics, on call cover, ward rounds, and care for patients on wards in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, including ward and specialist nursing teams. The unit is very active in research, education and audit and the post holder will be expected to fully participate in all the above activities.

You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council with a license to practise.

In-patient activity is based on the Surgical Unit with access to Paediatric day and in-patient beds as necessary. Day Care activity is centered on the in main theatres with patients housed Forest Ward pre and post operatively

Clinical Governance



The appointee will be required to participate in all clinical governance activities related to the Urology service. This will include contributing to: -


• clinical audit
• clinical risk activities
• clinical incident reporting
• responding to complaints within the Trust’s expected timescale
• participating in the development of the involvement of users in planning and monitoring access to and standards of the service

The post holder is clinically responsible to the Clinical Director of the specialty you are applying for in the Operations Directorate and managerially accountable to the Chief Operating Officer for the trust. The post is covered by the National Health Service terms and conditions of service for Hospital Medical and Dental staff (England and Wales). The appointment is pensionable unless the appointee chooses to opt out of the National Health Service Pension Scheme

The successful candidate will also receive London Weighting Allowance and applicable consultant intensity payments.

The successful candidate will be required to complete a health statement and the trust may require a medical examination as a condition of employment.

Because of the nature of the work of this post, it is exempt from the provision of Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exception Order 1975).
