We are a busy surgical admissions and day surgery unit working between 2 areas within the Hospital. Staff move daily between areas and are involved in the admission of around 35 -40 patients per day.

It is a fast paced environment but highly rewarding. Training will be given once in post.

JOB PURPOSE: The Staff Nurse will work as a member of the Breast Services team, delivering, planning and implementing nursing and clinical care to patients. After appropriate skills assessment, the post holder will be involved in nurse led clinics for pre-operative assessment and post-operative wound care management. Ensure total familiarity with all appointment systems Monitor effectiveness of computer system and report any problems Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed. Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately. Ensure all relevant information is accurately entered onto the computer system in accordance with practice procedures. Ensure strict adherence to all computer security procedures Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery. Enter requests for home visits into clinical system, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details. The Integrated Community Paediatric Service (ICPS) is looking for enthusiastic, flexible and motivated Healthcare Support Worker's (HCSW) to support the Children's Care Package Service. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and demonstrate empathetic sensitive and compassionate approach to all children, young people families and carers.

The Care Package Service supports children and young people with complex health needs and their families across all community settings- home, school and social activities. There may be times when this support is also required within the hospital or hospice setting. Care is delivered as commissioned by the Integrated Care Board throughout a 24 hour period, 7 days a week.

Upon appointment, a 6 week induction period will be offered, with training and competence assessments to prepare staff for this role. Upon completion of induction period and training, HCSW's will expected to work with children and young people as part of a team as well as autonomously as a lone workers, indirectly supervised by registered nurses, following care plans and trust policies and procedures.

Candidates should possess advanced keyboard skills including a high standard of word processing skills to RSA III or equivalent level qualification /experience, also GCSE English Language and Maths grade C or above. Previous medical secretarial experience, knowledge of medical terminology and audio typing is essential. You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to prioritise workload. You should be able to integrate well with the existing team and have a genuine desire to provide a quality service to all patients and knowledge of the NHS are desirable.

The post holder will be responsible for providing an efficient secretarial service to the Urology and Head and NeckTeam. The post holder will provide cross cover for fellow secretaries when required.

Core/Key areas will include:-
• To provide a full medical secretarial and administrative support
• General office duties including e-mail and computer systems, word processing.

SUMMARY OF MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES To work as an autonomous practitioner Responsible for: Attending to patients who wish to be seen by a health care professional Diagnosing, treating and prescribing for patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed illness or injury Making an assessment of their needs, based on highly developed nursing skills including physical assessment. Seeing and advising people in respect of their continuing medical and nursing needs Patients are to be seen in a timely manner enabling contractual requirements to be met The ANP will need to prioritise and triage the needs of patients accordingly making any necessary referrals for investigations in the appropriate manner. There will be a requirement to see extra or emergency patients Responsible for developing, with the patient, a continuing management plan for the health of the patient and when appropriate to refer to other clinicians and agencies To provide high quality nursing services to a defined practice population The role is flexible and demanding and may be expanded in accordance with practice requirements and the nurse practitioners own scope of practice.

Your responsibilities will be: Meeting the care needs of patients or where care has been transferred from a GP. Initiating and maintaining health screening and promotion clinics for identified patient populations Chronic disease management using practice computer systems for recall and screening purposes and for accurate and efficient input of data. Initiates the process of diagnosis with suspected chronic disease eg COPD, asthma and then referring to GP where appropriate. Administer adult and child immunisations and vaccinations in accordance with national and local programmes. Is competent in anaphylaxis and basic life support techniques. Offers a travel health clinic advice for patients prior to travel, as well as travel vaccinations. Treatment room services eg phlebotomy, routine injections, glucose tolerance tests, BP management, urinalysis, peak flow, spirometry, suture/ clip removal, wound management, cervical smears, contraceptive services, ECGs when adequate training achieved. (IUD/ coil fitting an advantage) Works within relevant practice policies and procedural guidelines eg infection control, chaperoning, PGDs.
