Milton Keynes Mental Health Support Teams are looking for four qualified registered Mental Health Practitioners to join two new Wave 11 Teams.

The Integrated Mental Health Team provides clinical and psychological interventions for prisoners with mental health needs in HMP Woodhill. To play a key role in the important Early Days in Custody of prisoners, working closely with other departments to ensure that all risks are assessed and managed. To function fully within the Integrated Mental Health Team, assessing and treating patients through their journey in prison. To accept referrals and triage patients with the team. To undertake comprehensive assessments alone or with colleagues and feedback to the Multi-disciplinary Team, ensuring that planned care is individual and appropriate to the needs of the patient. The duties of the post include the physical and psychiatric assessment and review of patients suffering from various psychiatric disorders who are admitted to the ward. Willow Ward has a high rate of admission and discharge and the post-holder is required to review new patients within 72 hours of admission. The post-holder will work with a medical team consisting of a Consultant Psychiatrist, ward junior doctor and foundation trainee. They will contribute to the supervision of the trainees and medical students on rotation, and is expected to contribute and support in other clinical duties (senior reviews of newly admitted patients, report writing, prescribing, etc) and writing discharge summaries. Regular clinical supervision will be provided by the Consultant. The post-holder may be required to work in other localities in line with the needs of the service.
