Due to service expansion, we have the opportunity to invite the right applicants to join our well established Care on Call team.This position is partially based in the community, assessing clients in need of assistance due to falls or medical difficulties and using equipment to assist clients up after falls where appropriate, and partially based within our control centre where you will be expected to work independently using our answering system to take emergency calls from customers. Full training will be given.



This opportunity will suit anyone with a background in healthcare who ideally have a Health and Social care NVQ or equivalent qualification.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Electronics Biomedical Engineer in the Medical Device Service at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Trust. You will join a team of engineers who specialise in the maintenance and repair of medical devices and equipment.

Applicants will be expected collaborate and build relationships with key clinical and patient areas across the organisation in support of medical equipment management.

The work of the department is very diverse and will give great opportunity for the right applicant to further develop their range of skills across a range specialties through a structured training program.

Applicants should have a proven track record of maintaining a range of medical equipment used in wards and departments of a hospital, with a willingness to gain new skills in a very diverse range of clinical engineering specialties.

Applicants will be expected to have a minimum qualification of HNC in a electronics or a clinical engineering higher diploma.

Successful applicants’ day to day duties will include:
• Supporting users of medical equipment to make the best use of these assets.
• Carry out routine maintains on a wide range of medical equipment
• Investigate and carry out repairs on medical equipment reported as faulty
• Support more senior engineers to carry out investigations on medical equipment and devices which are reported as being subject to an adverse incident or when supplier recall notification require action.
• Carry out testing and configuring of new medical before it can be released for clinical use.

The main duties of the post holder will include:

To provide specialist advise to users in the clinical use and application of medical devices. Supervise more junior staff assigned to this group. Assist in the management of risk associated with medical equipment; this will include involvement in training, AIR investigations, testing and repair of medical equipment and acting as the interface between users and other outside agencies / suppliers. Specialist responsibilities will also include:

• Updating evidence of work done on an equipment database

The Medical Device Service support users of medical equipment across all of our hospital sites within the Northern Care Alliance.

Main duties:

You will have a key role in supporting the departments responsibility for the maintenance, repair and sub-contractor management of Medical equipment. This will Include first line support to users of Medical equipment to Optimise systems up time to gain maximum use of Medical equipment.

Ideally, you will possess a minimum of HNC in Electronics and Clinical engineering and have relevant experience since qualifying in the field of Medical Electronics. Knowledge in the application and repair on a wide range of Medical equipment used in a hospital and community is essential although some specific training will be provided.

Consideration may be given to applicants will reduced knowledge and skills, who follow a personnel development program on a reduced grade.
