Carry out analyses regarding fault finding and investigate to resolves issues. Make judgments with the ability to assess, resolve and forward enquiries and distribute results. Manage documentation in line with the trust policy and follow operational policies and procedures related to the storage and retention of records. Maintain records of all related incidents and provide reports for the team leader / Deputy operational services manager (security) / Operational services manager. Ensure that all data is managed in accordance with GDPR legislation. Carry out all security, switchboard, portering, stores and car park related activities on a rota basis as instructed by team leader. Ensure control systems operate effectively i.e., possess keyboard skills and manual dexterity associated with CCTV, Access Control related software and estates maintenance system and report any system hardware software faults to the appropriate departments. Assist all trust users, patients/visitors/staff/contractors as required. Maintain accurate log details of all incidents/complaints. Provide a portering service to patients. Comply with all related controls to ensure systems and standards are followed in line with applicable policies, legislation, and NHS Standards. Operate in line with implementing current policies; contribute to developing, reviewing, updating these policies, and implementing a controlled process. Contribute to quality initiatives and comment on proposals for changes in working practices. Ensure that all lost property is dealt with according to SOP. Maintain physical equipment as required. Ensure electronic records (where they apply) and physical records are maintained accurately for all related aspects of responsibility. Required to work throughout the trust Withington site including all car parks, Candelford Hse, A Block, Day Nursery and The Grange. Work will include a base, however a considerable variety of movement, walking for long periods, will take place, throughout a 24-hour period, throughout the trust buildings, grounds, and satellite locations (day nursery and Candelford Hse) in association with events at different locations. Whilst working in the CCTV and switchboard role there will be a frequent requirement to sit or stand in a restricted position for most of the shift. Working will include using and carrying equipment, as the responsibilities demand. There will be occasional (and for short periods a frequent possibility) requirement to carry out controlled restraint in line with conflict resolution techniques for aggressive patients, visitors, and staff. Frequent moderate effort (occasionally intense) effort will be required throughout a shift to move patients, pulling, and pushing medical equipment such as beds, trolleys and wheelchairs. Movement of furniture, moving gas cylinders, will be required as required on an ad hoc basis. Occasional requirement for concentration when the work pattern becomes unpredictable e.g., during surveillance of an ongoing incident on the CCTV screens. Answering patients, patients representatives, visitors, contractors, general staff and the public queries will be a day-to-day activity where concentration is required when checking information and answering queries. Occasional exposure to distressing, emotional, violent, or traumatic situations circumstances, e.g. Issues / incidents in patient areas which could also include the mortuary, patient relatives on traumatic occasions. Contact with terminally ill patients of all ages from children to the very elderly on wards will be required. Contact via telephone calls / switchboard will take place from distressed and emotional patients, patient visitors and representatives. Movement of bodies to the mortuary. Take reasonable care for the Health and Safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by acts and omissions at work and ensure that statutory and departmental safety regulations are adhered to. Carry out security control room activities including CCTV monitoring equipment and reception desks. Monitor, access, intruder, fire, electrical, medical gasses, and fridge alarms and attend all security alarm activations in a safe manner, investigate their cause and phone the police and OSM if required. Respond to all calls for security/fire assistance/incidents fire alert calls, however received and take action to resolve in line with the emergency procedures, to minimize risk to life and assets and contact the relevant authority when necessary and report the incident to the Head of Security Ensure fire escape routes and equipment are always in working order and fully accessible and current relevant fire legislation is being complied with Assist Medical and Nursing staff in the restraint of patients using the minimum of force (following the successful completion of the Physical Control & Restraint Techniques Training Program with urgency and efficiency) Record all occurrences of security interest in logbooks, complete written reports including Incident reports. On occasion this may result in it being necessary to attend court as a witness. Patrol on foot the areas specified in duty instructions, taking note of items of security interest and corrective action as necessary. Drive security vehicle as part of duties Assist in the investigation of crimes, writing full reports and making recommendations to prevent a reoccurrence and provide crime prevention advice to clients. Regularly check that the building is secure outside normal office hours by carrying out irregular patrols of all Trust facilities Internally & Externally recording the patrols using the diester recording system. Carry out a full range of security and car parking duties in accordance with agreed policies and procedures. Maintain effective communication links through the correct use of radio, and correct terminology. Lock and alarm departments as required, external doors & gates as laid down in Trust lockdown procedures and ensure the Hospital is always secure. Assist in the search for missing patients and if necessary, escalate the search by contacting local police. Provide a first point of contact for police, fire brigade and emergency ambulance service. In accordance with the major incident plan, carry out duties as detailed. Provide an escort service to members of staff moving around the hospital after dark as requested. Ensure all emergency routes and one-way systems are always free. Reserve parking spaces when required and assist and direct the car park users. Report any faults or problems with the car park or the car park equipment. Assist with gritting where required. Direct, escort patients, visitors and staff as required. Report any defects found in the fabric of the building that may cause a breach of security or safety to patients, visitors and staff to the maintenance department and take follow up action ensuring that the job number is recorded. Attend calls for out-of-hours facilities assistance, advising the clients, solving problems, and passing requests, if necessary, to the appropriate on-call cover. Take part in Emergency lift evacuation (following successful completion of training and certification as a competent person) Transport patients between wards and departments. Transport bodies to the hospital mortuary assisting the mortuary with movement of bodies as necessary. Transport full or empty gas cylinders between departments, wards, and storage areas. Removal of dirty linen directly from clinical areas. This must be taken to the linen collection area ready for collection at the loading bay by an external contractor. Maintain all equipment and uniform supplied in a clean and presentable manner, full uniform must always be worn while on duty in line with the uniform protocol. Always maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene Log and review all complaints, incidents, and comments. Carry out salting and gritting during adverse weather conditions. Possess keyboard skills and manual dexterity associated with associated systems and related software including telephone and estates maintenance system.
