An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated pharmacy technician to join the cardiac team at Barts Heart Centre.

You will have the opportunity to develop your medicines management skills, working closely with medical and nursing staff on a wide range of medicines management matters tooptimisemedicines use across the site.

With the implementation of ward based dispensaries for all wards and a pre-admission drug history service, you will assist the team in further developing the continued expansion of the service and implementing initiatives in line with the Carter review.

You will gain experience in counselling patients, conducting audits and ensuring optimal medicines management across the site.

This is a 6 month fixed term role based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, working 37.5hours per week including 1 in 5 weekends.

There is a need for close coordination with the wider specialist MDT to pre plan medicines required for our patients at ward level through the implementation of an efficient medicines management system. This will include the assessment of patient’s own drugs, conducting medicines reconciliation, counselling patients about their medicines and coordinating the supply of discharge medication.

The role will also involve the training and supervision of junior team members and dispensary based responsibilities.

The Royal London Hospital Endoscopy Unit a St Bartholomew’s and the EDC unit at Mile End are looking for Band 2 Decontamination staff to join the existing team as we expand our services.

The unit at RLH will be open Monday to Saturday 8-6.



We are looking for people with commitment to Endoscopy and Gastroenterology. You should have excellent communication skills and be able to work as part of a large team. You should be flexible and approachable with a positive attitude, as this is the ethos of the unit.



The department opened on 2011 , it is a purpose built unit with 4 endoscopy rooms, an x-ray room and an 17 bedded recovery area with step down facilities. We have a dedicated team of Nurses who practise team nursing and rotate to all areas of the department.

The decontamination unit sits within the endoscopy unit; we have a satellite unit at Bart’s hospital, which all staff will rotate to, once trained.



We undertake all Endoscopy procedures including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS, EBUS, Spy Glass, bronchoscopy and capsule endoscopy. The unit processes all the flexible scopes for the Royal London Site.

Pre-Packing Senior Pharmacy Technician: Band 5

An exciting opportunity has come up for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work as a Senior Pharmacy Technician at the Pre-Packing Unit (PSU) at Bart’s Health NHS Trust, Pharmacy Technical Services (PTS).

PTS is a licensed manufacturing unit with three sites, Royal London Hospital which is based at Whitechapel, St. Barts Hospital and Whipps Cross Hospital.

The post holder will be responsible for assisting with coordinating all operational activities within the pre packing area based at Whipps Cross Hospital and include assisting with Scheduling and Planning of Materials Managements, Inspection & Labelling, Assembly, Repacking and Materials Management. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all work is scheduled, and documentation is current and updated in a timely manner in line with MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) audits and internal reviews.

Applicants must hold a BTEC level 3 Diploma in Principles and practice for pharmacy technicians or equivalent and must have Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Department at Barts Health covers a population of 2.5 million. We provide medicines management and medicines optimisation services from our four hospital sites across the City of London and East London.

We require an experienced individual with drive, enthusiasm, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and an ability to work under pressure. You should be a team player, able to perform effectively within the pharmacy and wider healthcare settings.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing an accurate and efficient service in the pharmacy dispensary including supporting the Senior Pharmacy Technician in managing a busy department. This role will also include rotations on the Royal London Hospital site to rotate through the main dispensary, Satellite Dispensary and Medicines Management.

To understand how the robot operates. Be able to deal with discrepancies and problems arising, or know who to refer to if you are unable to solve problems.

To help investigate stock level discrepancies within the dispensary in line with current procedures and to assist in maintaining accurate stock control including daily stock checks, expiry date checks and to report inaccuracies.

To participate in the disposal of expired pharmaceuticals, or appropriate return into stock of previously issued/dispensed items according to standard operating procedures.

To perform the stock check and expiry date check of the emergency drug
cupboard on a daily basis in line with standard operating procedures.
