To work and gain experience in all sections of the pharmacy department on a rotational basis, under the supervision of the Section Manager. Sections to include Distribution, Dispensary, Procurement and Medicines Management To read and adhere to the Trusts and Pharmacys Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Policies. Leadership or Managerial To supervise staff in training (Pre-Registration Pharmacists and Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technicians) during rotations within the Business Team, including the provision of training plans and rotational review meetings Finance, Commissioning and Tariff Excluded Drugs Responsible for accurate in-system flagging of Tariff Excluded Drugs and providing month-end reports in the format required for trust finance to produce the Minimum Data-Set (mds) required by commissioners. To provide High Cost Drugs information from the pharmacy stock control system, Epact (FP10 data) and other sources and support the Finance Department to ensure that the Trust receives monies due. To be familiar with annual and mid-year changes to commissioning and ensure that the pharmacy stock system reflects changes to allow accurate reporting for preparation of invoices to the commissioners. Utilise current data to monitor actual drugs spend and usage against previous horizon scanning and escalate to seniors and clinical staff where variance is identified. Provides training for trust wide staff for the Blueteq High Cost Drug funding approval system. Where a commissioner does not utilise Blueteq to monitor compliance with NICE guidance, the post-holder ensures that in-house auditable records are kept. Work with Regional Panel to ensure all patients prescribed Human Normal Immunoglobulins are registered on the National IvIg Database, and that efficacy measures and follow-ups are recorded according to NHS England policy. Ensure that drugs which are part of a national Patient Access Scheme for NHS hospital discount are received at the correct discount price and be able to provide assurance to commissioners. To act as a delegated budget holder for the departmental budget, including sign off of pharmaceutical orders, timesheets and capital spend. Information and reporting To be a system administrator and trouble-shooter for high cost drugs funding requests and queries, between trust, commissioners and clinical staff. To review and respond to all commissioner month-end funding challenges for high cost drugs within contracted deadlines. Requires liaising with clinical staff and interpreting appointment notes. To produce the month-end tariff excluded drugs reports which the finance team use to invoice commissioners. To send the Accounts Payable file to Shared Business Services to ensure payment is processed. To liaise with the regional Immunoglobulins panel coordinator and be the primary pharmacy contact for query resolution and information sharing. Produce regular monthly, quarterly and annual pharmacy data reports. Produce ad hoc reports on drug use and/or spend, often at short notice and requiring high attention to detail in large datasets. This requires excellent prioritisation skills to manage around existing work and deadlines, and occasional renegotiation of deadlines. Provide pharmacy responses to Freedom of Information Requests regarding medicines within formal deadlines Manage the monthly Formulary Audits. Co-ordinate data collection and submission for all medicines related CQUINs. Co-ordinate data collection and submission for the annual NHS Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation Benchmarking toolkit. Raise requisitions within the SBS Oracle system and ensure they are processed to completion. Communications and Engagement Liaise with Specialist Nurses to respond to Tariff Excluded Drug funding queries and commissioner funding challenges Liaise with Divisional Pharmacists to agree criteria for Divisional spending reports. Perform reviews and updates to existing Business Team Standard Operating Procedures (for the Stock Control System, Prescription Tracker, Robot, High Cost Drugs and month-end Sales and Divisional Spend Reports) Create user guides and flow-charts to support pharmacy user compliance with pharmacy based software and hardware. Attend Gastroenterology Biologics MDT meetings on a monthly basis and engage with clinic nurses and clinicians to assist with queries and completing funding forms on the Blueteq High Cost Drug Database. Technology or system support Act as System manager for the Ascribe Pharmacy system provided by EMIS. To regularly check and troubleshoot issues on an ad hoc basis as well as those identified in the Ascribe fixes log weekly. To liaise with Emis company software specialists if necessary to ensure faults are rectified as quickly as possible Dispensary To dispense all types of prescriptions and inpatient orders, (including Controlled drugs and extemporaneous preparations, unlicensed medication), presented to the Pharmacy from wards & departments at the base hospital and the outside hospitals in accordance with departmental procedures To counsel outpatients on the use of their medication (compliance, side effects, possible drug interactions) and ensure patients understand the importance of correct compliance ( after training) To maintain accurate stock levels and undertake regular stock takes of Controlled drugs in the dispensary including accuracy of computer and register entries according to departmental procedures. To manage the mortuary in an appropriate manner in order to maintain its standing as both a hospital and public mortuary, and as a receiving site in Surrey for Coroners and Forensic deaths. The provision and maintenance of a system for documenting and recording full details relevant to the receipt, processing and release of bodies and tissues/organs. To perform evisceration and body reconstruction techniques to a high standard. To report any incidents in a timely manner using the Trust incident reporting procedure. To aid in the investigation of such incidents in conjunction with the Network Mortuary Operations Manager. To provide day-to-day line management to staff. To appraise staff on a yearly basis with the Network Mortuary Operations Manager. To instruct and train Mortuary APT staff in mortuary techniques to develop expertise within the hospital. To train porters in relevant mortuary procedures. To manage the Statutory and Mandatory compliance of the mortuary team. To keep accurate and compliant training and competency records for all mortuary staff To plan and arrange cover for the mortuary in the event of sickness absence or annual leave, liaising with the Network Mortuary Operations Manager, other BSPS Senior APT staff and the Coroners office as required. To manage the servicing and maintenance of mortuary equipment and to plan with outside contractors to ensure the continued availability of mortuary facilities. To keep accurate records of such equipment. To ensure the provision of an effective, high quality office administration service for the mortuary including dealing with post and answering telephone queries. To ensure all paperwork is completed for the correct receipt of bodies DOA and BID in compliance with national legislation and local requirements. To regularly review/ write Mortuary standard operating procedures, and general and COSHH risk assessments, with the Network Mortuary Operations Manager, in line with H&S and HTA requirements. To keep up to date with any legal aspects of the job, for example, HTA and Department of Health initiatives etc. To develop, implement and maintain an up to date contingency plan, with the Network Mortuary Operation Manager, according to the requirements of the Trust, the Coroners Officer and emergency planning. Assist and support the Site Leads and other staff with all mortuary activities using local SOPs and trust policies. Assist and maintain clear communication with Consultant Pathologist(s) within the postmortem room.HTA, and previous mortuary experience required. Admit and release of deceased patients and understanding the legal documentation in accordance with HTA and trust policies. To maintain accurate records of all property that may accompany deceased. Understanding of documentation required for the admission, post-mortem, release and disposal of bodies, personal effects, and tissue retention for a scheduled purpose. To liaise with the bereavement officer(s), funeral directors and coroners officer in the documentation and release of deceased patients from the mortuary. To liaise with other partners and stakeholders both internal and external to the trust. Ensure specimens are labelled and handled in accordance with local pathology policies and HTA requirements. To prepare viewings and when necessary, accompanying the relatives into the viewing room. Assist the bereavement officer when required for viewings, collection of forms. To assist in the identification of a deceased patient on behalf of HM Coroner and the Police Participate and work with colleagues to provide 24-hour service, working flexibly in accordance with needs of the department. Technical: The Technician will be expected to maintain and possess knowledge of the full range of procedures associated with their trade as well as the departmental operational procedures and model. The Technician will have attained as a minimum their level 3 trade / profession related qualification; as well as a level 2 trade / profession qualification in the opposing trade (Electrical/Mechanical or Mechanical/Electrical). The Technician must be able to demonstrate significant experience as a tradesperson / craftsperson etc. In addition to trade qualifications, the Technician will be required to undertake training and appointment as a competent person in two disciplines (for example, medical gases and ventilation) as well as having undertaken the training for Authorised person in both those same disciplines (however, will not be required to be appointed in this role). All CP and AP qualifications will need to be maintained in date throughout the period of employment. An expectation will exist for the Technician to not only be familiar with the safe and proper use of all tools and equipment associated with their trades but additionally to be aware of new tools, equipment or practices entering general use; with a view as to their relevancy to the organisation. This will include aspects such as working at height, ladders, testing and monitoring equipment, building management systems etc. In addition to this there will be mandatory annual training requirements that form a part of both the departmental and organisational requirements, it will be the responsibility of the Technician to ensure that they make or agree time for this to be undertaken. The Technician will be required to undertake, employ and review risk assessments such as qualitative, generic, site-specific, and dynamic; as well as implementing the practical and theoretical aspects of LOTO and permit to work systems. The Technician will need to be able to effectively communicate technical issues, safety requirements and situations to the rest of the team, department, and organisation. The Technician will be expected to problem solve any technical issues found, undertake fault diagnosis, assess the safety of any situation including risks, implications and mitigations and advise on actions to be taken forwards or improvements that can be made. In addition to the above communication elements, the Technician needs to be able to undertake the planning and scheduling of works or activities that may result in major interruptions, as well as co-ordinating the work of various contractors and in-house teams. Autonomy is a significant aspect of the role. Whilst some work may be scheduled a significant portion of work will be of a reactive nature requiring self-management of time. Data entry on to computer systems. Be able to identify instruments within sets and ensure that they are in working order. Fault finding on equipment, some of which can be complex (and report these accordingly). To manage the use of consumables within the department ensuring that all are used appropriately and avoid wastage. To be responsible for recording and monitoring equipment testing and quality assurance checks. Works on own initiative and with Endoscopy Decontamination Technicians but refers to Endoscopy Decontamination Manager when needed. Plan the delivery of flexible Endoscopes on a daily/weekly basis to meet the demands of the department. Help with the training of new members of staff and to ensure that all staff working in the team are working within the requirements set out in the SOPs. Possess developed physical skills, accuracy is essential with good hand/eye dexterity and coordination with the ability to be able to manipulate instruments for the decontamination process. There is a requirement to stand at machinery and undertake repetitive movements for long periods. Answer professionally and concisely all queries, regarding services, technical queries and be able to respond to questions regarding Flexible Scopes. Liaises with clinical staff as and when needed.

To assist with Estates maintenance activities, which may be demanding or non-routine. Provision of support and advice on improvements to existing installations and associated equipment and also in terms of enhancement of working practices. Provision of a deputising role in support of Team Leaders. This may require participation in meetings, communication with Contractors and advice on site arrangements and engineering systems issues in relation to surveys by external agencies and surveyors. Apprentices support qualified Craftspersons in the maintenance, operation, and repair of systems. They assist with duties such as installation, fault finding, repair and maintenance tasks to ensure the effective operation of equipment and estates. The level of direct involvement and autonomy will typically scale across an apprentices employment in line with their skill, experience and training level. The nature of hospital work sites ranges from commercial level infrastructure through to industrial level infrastructure and therefore requires all operatives to possess a high degree of training and expertise in its maintenance and operation. In addition to this, many of our customers are vulnerable adults and children, whom may be more susceptible to injury, harm or death should these operations or maintenance functions be poorly or incorrectly undertaken. The purpose of incorporating apprentices within the team is to provide a pathway for non-qualified individuals to enter the National Health workforce and attain the skills, qualifications and experience required to be considered a competent craftsperson, with the result yielding to progression opportunities and a potential career.
