DT is a well-resourced and supported subject at Ralph Allen school, growing in popularity at both GCSE and A-level. We currently run A-level Product Design and GCSE’s in Food Preparation and Nutrition, Product Design: Textiles, Product Design: Resistant Materials, Art & Design; Graphic Communication and a Construction Vocational Qualification.
The role of the Technician is wide ranging from ensuring equipment and machinery is maintained and safe to use; materials are prepared, and stock maintained; through to assisting teachers and students in the classroom and workshop. An ability to pro-actively anticipate teachers needs would be advantageous, as would employing your expertise in developing new projects.
The department has a broad range of equipment, and the successful candidate will need to feel as confident using a 3D printer and laser cutter as they do a bandsaw and lathe. Full training will be provided on all equipment, as will DATA Health and Safety training, for the successful candidate.
An interest in DT is required and although a DT or technical background would be advantageous, it is not essential as full training will be given.

We are now seeking a Senior Facilities Officer to assist the Facilities Management Team to maintain an attractive, safe, clean, and welcoming College as well as a calm purposeful learning environment.
You’ll be the single point of contact for all requests for repairs, faults, and other maintenance requests from staff, ensuring that all faults are logged on the College helpdesk system. Along with the site services team you will assist in providing first line response to repairs requests covering non-plant equipment, fabric, plumbing, carpentry, decorative repairs, porterage duties and maintain key inventories and stock. You’ll be undertaking weekly inspections of the roofs, gutters, basements and the fabric maintenance of the building and to report defects to the Facilities Manager.

As a Facilities Assistant, your duties will include working with the Estates, Grounds, Housekeeping and Transport teams in all areas of the school and boarding houses to assist in delivering a seamless facilities operation. Full training is available; however, experience would be an advantage. The successful candidate will be trustworthy, hardworking and have a great attention to detail.These hours will be initially based at our Senior school sites; however, you may also be required to work at Prep School site from time to time. Both sites are situated in Bath.
