Your Responsibilities as Part of Our Team

Installation and Setup: Install, configure, and set up IT hardware and slot machines according to manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements.

Maintenance and Repair: Conduct routine maintenance checks, diagnose malfunctions, and perform necessary repairs to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.

Troubleshooting: Utilise diagnostic tools and technical manuals to identify and resolve issues related to hardware, software, and peripheral components of IT hardware and slot machines.

Customer Support: Respond promptly to service incidents and inquiries from club staff, providing technical assistance, guidance, and training as needed.

Preventive Maintenance: Implement preventive maintenance schedules to proactively address potential issues and prolong the lifespan of our IT hardware and slot machines.

Compliance and Regulations: Ensure adherence to gaming regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices in all service and maintenance activities.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of service activities, including maintenance logs, repair reports, and inventory management to facilitate tracking and analysis.

Product Knowledge: Stay updated on the latest advancements, features, and technologies in IT hardware and slot machines systems to enhance troubleshooting capabilities and service quality.

Team Collaboration: Coordinate with internal teams, including IT support, central engineering, and the IT service desk, to resolve complex issues and improve overall service delivery.

Customer Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with club colleagues, managers, and regional management by delivering reliable service, demonstrating professionalism, and fostering trust.

Health & Safety: Ensure adherence to company Health & Safety policies.

We are looking for a motivated individual with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills who is dedicated to working as part of the team.

MEMS provide total medical equipment management services to Basildon, Southend, Broomfield and other external organisations. This includes Procurement, Acceptance, Maintenance and Service, co-ordinate clinical staff training and decommissioning and disposal.

The role is responsible to ensure that equipment operates effectively and safely with the minimum of downtime. Clinical equipment covered incorporates complex electrical, electronic, mechanical, computer and medical gas-based systems.
• You will provide support to electrical and electronic related medical equipment, which includes the scheduled planned preventative maintenance (PPM), servicing, repair, calibration and acceptance testing on a wide range of medical equipment within the electrical / electronic field.
• You will help promote understanding of the medical equipment concept within the Trust and support development and delivery of associated work programmes.
• Perform a range of technical duties, guided by procedures involving autonomous work on both general and complex medical equipment in the clinical (external organisations) and workshop environment to ensure the optimum effectiveness, reliability, availability and safety of medical devices which may involve travelling across sites.
• To commission, calibrate, deploy and maintain a wide range of complex medical devices e.g. Infusion Devices, Patient Monitoring, Defibrillators, etc

• Investigate and test medical devices, analysing the results to diagnose faults or problems on complex medical devices. Demonstrating equipment operation and techniques to individual clinical users where this is a solution to a problem.
• Communication of investigation results to users, colleagues and suppliers, sharing knowledge and experience.
• Using primarily computerised systems, make accurate equipment maintenance history records and other information supporting audit, quality and performance monitoring.
• Ensure all duties are delivered in an efficient, safe, professional and organised way according to Section policies, procedures and Health and Safety documentation.

What skills and experience we're looking for

We wish to appoint a Science Technician to support our Science department

Salary Range: Band 4 FTE £28,919- £32,110. Actual starting salary £24,803 with performance based, yearly increments available

Working Hours: 37 hours per week (08:00-16:00 Mon-Thurs and 08:00 – 15:30 Fri)

Working Weeks: 40 weeks (term time inclusive of insets+ 1 week)

This is a unique opportunity to join a successful academy as part of a supportive and very hard working team. We are looking for a Science Technician who is able to work positively within a team providing support for both students and staff.

The Science Technician should have the following qualities;

• Detailed knowledge of Health & Safety legislation as it relates to the work of the school
• Detailed knowledge of COSHH and ESCC regulations in relation to the safe handling and storage of chemicals
• Detailed knowledge of safe working practices in relation to the handling and usage of hazardous equipment and tools
• A sound knowledge of National Curriculum requirements (Desirable)
• Ability to offer professional guidance and assistance to students and teachers on the practical aspects of the curriculum
• Ability to identify work priorities and manage own workload and that of others
• Ability to oversee the induction and training of new staff who support students in the zones
• Ability to maintain accurate work records and inventories
• Ability to carry out risk assessments in relation to laboratory work
• Ability to prepare equipment and materials for lessons, as requested by the teaching staff
• Ability to design, develop and maintain specialist resources
• Ability to demonstrate developed interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to establish positive relationships with pupils, including those with special educational needs

The appointed Science Technician will begin their BA career at The Lower Academy, but staff can be redeployed to either site dependent upon operational needs.

To work within agreed quality standards of service delivery and turnaround times under the supervision of Associate Practitioners. To continue with personal development through academic or practical experience. To provide leadership and supervision, as directed, of trainee Medical Laboratory Assistants. Report all incidents and adverse events to senior staff.
