The Opportunity...
At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
As a Maintenance Manager, you will ensure the care, preservation, and maintenance of all permanent equipment throughout the project lifecycle. You will develop and implement a Maintenance Strategy to achieve world-class standards, supporting HPC's safety and operational performance goals. Central to this role is recruiting and developing a team of approximately 150 Engineers, Technicians, and Support Personnel, who will create processes and procedures for all maintenance activities. Maintenance will play a key role in establishing and reinforcing our nuclear safety culture.
Reporting to the Commissioning Programme Director, you will provide strategic leadership for all maintenance aspects and collaborate closely with the CommOps Leadership team and senior leaders across the HPC project, including Construction, Delivery, and Supply Chain. Your success will depend on strong partnerships with these leaders to ensure the project's overall success.

What you’ll be doing…
- Implementing a strategy to build and train a qualified department for project responsibilities.
- Providing competent support during construction, equipment installation, and commissioning phases.
- Ensuring compliance with Nuclear Site License Conditions and maintaining regulator relationships.
- Developing and enforcing safe, compliant, and reliable performance policies and processes.
- Setting and reinforcing in-field standards for the Comm-Ops organisation.
- Advocating care and maintenance of all stored and installed equipment.
- Engaging with stakeholders to deliver Long Term Service Agreements for maintenance.
- Managing the identification, purchase, and storage of spares and special tools.
- Collaborating to secure necessary resources for successful project execution.
- Overseeing and developing your team to ensure high performance and continuous improvement.
- Monitoring and assessing departmental performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Developing training plans to ensure team competency and support long-term departmental growth.
Who you are…
Your background may include some of the following:
- Record of strategic execution of complex, high value capital programmes within a technically complex and dynamic environment whilst ensuring high levels of safety, security, and environmental responsibility.
- Comprehensive programme management experience, including methodologies like the UK MSP model, within nuclear or regulated industries.
- Strong grasp of project and programme management principles within the nuclear context.
- Experience within the Nuclear Energy sector or similar regulated environment.
- Significant leadership experience at senior management or director level with experience in coaching and development of personnel.
- Demonstrable history of working within safety and quality cultures.
- Excellent stakeholder management and coordination skills including conflict resolution capability.
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in an appropriate Engineering or Science discipline.
