Use of relevant tools and equipment, including the manipulation of fine tools. Demonstrate a basic knowledge of good safety practices. Deputise for storekeeper in Building & Engineering stores. Carry Trust communication devices to facilitate immediate response to urgent requests and emergency breakdowns Participate in appropriate on-call / shift rotas, subject to appropriate negotiations and agreement, and be prepared to work such hours that may be required in an emergency. Any other duties as may be reasonably required by line management commensurate with the grades of the post. Respond to switchboard and building management system alarms. eg. Daily work will include providing calibration, safety checking, acceptance checking and repair of sophisticated patient monitoring, life support and other medical equipment. The technologist is expected to work closely and effectively with other technical staff and other colleagues (medical, nursing and laboratory) in the specialist clinical areas for which the team is responsible, to ensure delivery of a high-quality service. 3. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Responsible for the safe service, repair and calibration of equipment for use in clinical diagnosis, treatment and life support of patients. Work is guided by departmental procedures, quality manual documents and national recommendations with work objectives set monthly by team leader. Uses own judgement to determine suitability of equipment (in terms of patient safety) for clinical use, undertakes risk assessments. Provides basic support for specialist items such as intensive care and operating theatre equipment. Evaluates new equipment as part of equipment purchasing strategy. Carries out commissioning and acceptance testing on new medical equipment. Prioritises breakdown calls and preventative maintenance tasks using knowledge of clinical need, accessibility, loan equipment availability etc. Carries out authorised modifications to medical equipment. Also supports the construction of clinical devices as appropriate and under the direction of the Head of Clinical Engineering or designated deputy Proposes changes to operational policies that may impact on own area and other professions. Writes technical procedures for quality management system in own area of work using word processor, spread sheet etc. Maintains the equipment inventory database by recording own work and own measurements on medical equipment. Identifies and specifies spare parts and accessories to be ordered for own work and that of trainees. Supervises and take part in the training activities of trainee technicians who may be allocated to him/her from time to time. Participates in equipment support, relevant training and development of equipment users and of staff within Medical Physics. Travels to other hospitals, health centres and patients homes if necessary for the execution of work. 4. We have an opportunity for an Estate Technician to join our Estate Services team, based in Leeds. As an Estates Technician you will work as part of a small team to carry out a variety of work on void and occupied properties. Most of the work will be external and consist of garden works, fencing, paving and minor external repairs. You will sometimes be required to empty void properties of their contents and clean empty properties ready for further internal works or for it to be rented. A full training plan will be provided as well as a company van and power tools.
The role covers a variety of locations across west and south Yorkshire but is based out of Castleton Close, Armley, Leeds. The successful candidate will predominantly be working in a pair with occasional lone working or working as part of a larger team on bigger projects. The ideal candidate will be hardworking with a keen eye for detail. They will be responsible for the tools and equipment they use on a daily basis which includes a work mobile phone.

The role of Estate Technician will include:

- Undertaking general caretaking duties including; cleaning communal areas such as stairs, doors and windows, removing bulk waste, fitting carpets and basic onsite repairs
- Grounds maintenance tasks to include; lawn mowing, hedge trimming and general upkeep
- Working with customers to identify faults, resolving issues and improving services
- Completing all documents and paperwork concerning tasks completed
- Ensuring tools and equipment are maintained in a suitable condition


Skills and experiences:

- Experience in a similar role or completing similar tasks
- Some experience of working to deadlines and prioritising work loads
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
- Practical experience in operating hand tools and light machinery
