We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our team, supporting delivery of our ward-based clinical pharmacy services to patients within the Acute Medicine & Rehabilitation Directorate.

Within this role you will work with a supportive team of experienced Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists and Pharmacy Assistants to ensure medicines optimisation on the fast-paced medical units at the John Radcliffe Hospital, including undertaking medicines reconciliation, supporting ward-based dispensing of medication and ensuring safe and effective use of medicines at a ward level. This requires a good understanding of appropriate medicines management and a flexible approach to working.

This post is ideal for registered Pharmacy Technicians accredited in medicines management looking to build on their clinical experience or newly qualified Pharmacy Technicians looking to start their career in a ward-based role. Prior to starting, you must successfully hold the NVQ level 3 (QCF) or equivalent and be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Planned Maintenance:

Routine Activity:
Participate in routine work such as meter readings, top up/monitoring of water softener equipment, changing extraction filters, Fire Alarm testing and checking lifts and elevators. Support the Maintenance Manager to keep up to date records of maintenance work completed in these areas.
Grounds Maintenance:
Undertake appropriate seasonal grounds maintenance such as lawn mowing, hedge trimming, weeding as required at the main College site and the off-site houses around the city.
Essential Skills:

Both the John Radcliffe & Churchill dispensary teams are a friendly and hardworking team of staff ranging from band 2 Assistants through to band 7 Technicians. Many of our dispensary technicians later take other roles within the wider Pharmacy team and this role is ideal for gaining that experience to progress further in your career.

This is a full-time position, 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, with working hours of 9:00-17:15, however flexible working options would also be considered. You will also be required to participate in weekend working on a 1:6 rota basis, bank holiday, early and late duty rotas as per rota.

The post holders will support both our Dispensary and Clinical services and ensure that our patients receive the best care possible. This opportunity is ideal for those would like to gain hospital pharmacy experience. Within this role you will receive full training to become both an Accredited Checking Technician and a Ward Based Technician, allowing you to progress to band 5 on completion of both accreditations.

The Pharmacy Technician role is varied, and requires flexibility in your approach to work, supporting both dispensary, stores and ward-based work on either the John Radcliffe Hospital or Churchill Hospital site. The successful applicant will be required to assist in the smooth running of the dispensary, providing co-ordinator support to the dispensary team together with our Senior Technicians, or in the absence of the Senior Technician, and at weekends. You will support the training and induction of new members of the team, pharmacy apprentices, trainee technicians and pharmacists working alongside you.

To carry out the receipt, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, packing and sterilization of reusable medical devices. We are looking to recruit one full time Sterile Services Technician to join our team at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Sterile Services Department. This is a busy unit based adjacent to the Operating Theatres responsible for the decontamination of surgical instruments for use in the main Operating Theatres, plus WW and WC Operating theatres, and some wards and departments.

You will be required to undertake tasks associated with the cleaning, disassembly, checking, packing, sterilization and movement of surgical instruments to ensure the safe reprocessing, and distribution of products for use in theatres and other clinical departments.

You will follow written instructions, use specialist machinery and electronic tracking systems in the accordance with departmental guidelines. You will comply with the requirements of quality systems, as stated in ISO 13485, Medical device regulations plus all other relevant standards.
