Duties common to a GS-05 Physical Science Technician:

• These positions work in a variety of program areas such as Water Resources, GIS, Caves, Geology, Air and/or Water Quality, etc. Duties will vary by location.
• Assists with and/or implements established natural resource management projects (e.g., field examinations, field surveys, inventories, etc.) related to one or more of the physical sciences.
• Collects and organizes field data following instructions and standardized procedures. Performs routine and recurring testing of collected samples.
• Monitors and evaluates conditions in assigned program area. Evaluates observed conditions and problems and makes preliminary determinations on the cause of problems noted.
• Utilizes a variety of computer programs to compile, reduce, store, retrieve, analyze, and report data and other resource management information, including natural science research and long-term monitoring projects.

• The duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Responsible for organizing and conducting direct control operations to reduce wildlife damage within a geographical area or technical/subject area of program involvement.
• Inspects and surveys areas and, as necessary, will revise existing WDM programs in close consultation with higher-level management.
• May be required to use chemical immobilization and euthanasia drugs to capture and handle wildlife.
• Assists Wildlife Biologists by correctly identifying current, and forecasting future damage, problems and relating them to the damage-causing species.
• Modifies or adapts established damage control techniques as necessary to meet local conditions and address specific environmental, economic or political considerations.
• Assists in the negotiation of cooperative service agreements with landowners, lessees, or administrators to accomplish the goals outlined for the WS program.
• Assists in conducting demonstrations and training for others, including other cooperators or other interested groups, on WDM methods, procedures, and program objectives.

Duties include but not limited to:

• Distributes and balances the workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization and assures timely accomplishment of assigned workload.
• Monitors working conditions.
• Resolves simple, informal complaints of employees and refers others to supervisor.
• Maintains stock at primary and secondary inventory locations for all clinical and administrative services.
• Performs daily inventory of primary and secondary inventory points using bar coding equipment on a predetermined schedule that will allow for timely replenishment orders. Resolves differences between records and physical count of stock.
• Receives supplies and material into the VA Health Care System and supported catchment area.

• Manages and coordinates all the third-party activities by screening all third-party cases for possible tort liability and reporting any such cases to the Office of Regional Counsel.
• Processed and reviews Resource Patient Management System (RPMS) reports and any correspondences from Contract Health, Health Information Management (HIM-Medical Records), Patient Registration/Admissions and the Business Office

• Performs a thorough review of billing record(s) requested from the attorney's or legal entities and insurance carriers.
• Ensures that all patient documents have patient identification on each page, year activity stamp/sticker, documents and forms in chart sequential order, master control log updated, and chart is clearly identified as combined and complete.
• Maintains and coordinates the archiving of clinical logs (i.e. Emergency Room, Operating Room) in hybrid environment.

As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-5801-11, you will:

• Plan use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis.
• Coordinate work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors.
