We are currently recruiting for experienced L6 (CIAG) Qualified Careers Advisers to join our Education Development Trust youth careers team from December 2024 to provide careers advice, guidance and support to individuals and groups of young people at school or college.

Role Type:

We have positions to suit all working preferences; full time, part time, zero-hour, term time, onsite, fixed term & permanent contracts.

Please note that some positions are presently only available, subject to contract.

Key duties:

You will produce tailored careers information, advice, and guidance to meet the needs of young people and support the school in achieving the Gatsby benchmarks. These are face to face, term time only vacancies in schools.

You will have:

Level 4 or 6 qualification in careers guidance (CIAG)
Experience of working with young people preferably in a school or college setting
Thorough knowledge of education, employment, training and personal development opportunities that are available for young people/labour market information.
Provide careers advice and guidance in a one-to-one setting or group workshop/assemblies to support students with their career aspirations.
Arrange career talks and a range of activities for students.
Have the ability to engage with and inspire young people with SEND and disadvantaged as well as with their parents/carers.
Support the Schools or College Careers Leader to implement and enhance the schools programme to contribute towards meetings the Gatsby Benchmarks.
Demonstrate professional commitment to Children's rights, equal opportunities and diversity.
Undertake administration duties to ensure that all delivery evidence is complete and compliant in line with contract and quality standards.
Experience of working with vulnerable groups and those with special educations needs and disabilities (SEND).
Our Careers Advisers are expected to work flexibly and independently but will be supported as part of the wider team. Applicants must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Refugee Key Worker


Location: Ideally working from South or West Cornwall or have a willingness to travel into these areas

This is a full-time, fixed term role (up to 8 months from start date of contract)

About the role – Assist – One and All is a Cornwall Council Shared Prosperity Funded employability programme covering Cornwall and the Isle’s of Scilly.

The Key Worker will deliver support to refugees across Cornwall both virtually and face to face; delivery venues will include a variety of Community Hubs, Jobcentre Plus offices, libraries etc. Our participant journey is designed to offer tailored support to the individual, the Key Worker will ensure that the participant is supported to achieve progression.

This role offers the opportunity to work innovatively and flexibly to open up opportunities for refugees who have chosen to settle in Cornwall. Using a diagnostic assessment at the start of the journey the Key Worker will be able to identify the actions required to enable the participant to meet their goals. Linking with employers, training providers and other support services to ensure the participants needs are met.
It would be advantageous if the post holder speaks Ukranian, Pasto, Dari or other suitable languages.

Registered with the HCPC and own professional body.
Experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams
