Early Years Practitioner (L1Z3) - EDUCATION

Description

To provide high quality integrated day care and early education to children from birth to 7 years within a multi-disciplinary team and in line with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
To contribute to planning and support delivery of a high quality early years curriculum, which includes a full commitment to anti-discriminatory practice. This will include daily, weekly and termly planning to meet individual children's needs and interests and record keeping that tracks the development of the individual child.
To promote children’s development within a secure, safe and stimulating environment, and with reference to good practice curriculum guidance appropriate to the ages and stages of development of the children.
To provide input to the assessment of children’s overall development, including carrying out observations, recording children’s achievement, and maintaining developmental records to a high standard.
To support colleagues in undertaking their responsibilities as key worker to a specific group of children within the centre and the smooth transition from home to centre and from centre to school
To effectively manage the behaviour of the children in line with procedural guidance and to implement planned interventions for children with additional needs.
To provide appropriate physical care in areas of washing, toileting, changing, feeding, dressing, comforting and administering medication.
To work with due regard to Child Protection procedures and to report matters of concern to the centre managers.
To assist with the organisation of outings for children’s interest, education and enjoyment and with regard to safety.
There is a requirement to lift and assist in toileting and changing and in helping to transfer from seating to mobility aids. The post will help children to acquire and develop self help skills including toileting and personal hygiene. Work may also involve implementing individual movement programmes, under the direction of other professionals.
The post holder will be required to help with first aid provision, comforting sick or injured children. In emergency situations he/she will need to liaise with the designated first-aider, senior staff and medical professionals, accompanying children to hospital or doctors as necessary. Any basic medical procedures that may need to be carried out will have training provided for.
Must be able to work to the shift pattern required by the setting, falling between 8am and 6pm.

• Directs the administrative and clinical aspects of the Workplace Violence Prevention Program across the WCHCS System.
• Coordinates interdisciplinary staffing by Chairing the Disruptive Behavior Committee (DBC), Employee Threat Assessment Team (ETAT), Workplace Behavioral Risk Assessment (WBRA) team and oversees Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB).

• Provides regular clinical supervision to team.
• Establishes and clearly communicate guidelines and performance expectations for the WVPP members.
  • Provides quarterly updates to the Clinical Executive Board and submit WVPP-related work products directly to the Chief of Staff and/or Facility Director.
• Utilizes knowledge of community resources, makes referrals to the community and other government agencies as appropriate, and coordinates services.
• Conducts psychosocial assessments and treatment interventions to a wide variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, ethnic, educational, and other diversified backgrounds.
• Manages practices and oversees the day-to-day business of the inter/multidisciplinary committees that reviews incidents of Patient-Generated Disruptive Behaviors, Visitor-Generated Disruptive Behaviors, and Employee-Generated Disruptive Behaviors.
• Conducts and delegates behavioral threat assessments to inform recommendations for individualized risk management strategies; consulting with VA Providers, clinical staff and DBC and ETAT members; informing and providing risk relevant clinical interventions in cases of disruptive or violent behavior history; providing and overseeing education to staff; providing timely and accurate responses to action items and recommendations made by the DBC and ETAT.
• Ensures ongoing training of team members in evidence- based threat assessment and threat management practice. The Program Coordinator collaborates with leadership to ensure facility policies are compliant with The Joint Commission, Office of Inspector General, and OSHA requirements regarding workplace violence prevention training.
