Cleaning Operative
Derwentside IRC
Full time, 40 hours,
Shifts include weekend, shift pattern: 7:30am-4:30pm
£24,000 per annum + Excellent Corporate Company Benefits
We are recruiting for a Cleaning Operative to join us at Derwentside Immigration Removal Centre female only accommodation, where we are responsible for all aspects of detainee safety, security and welfare provision, facilities management and catering.
The primary function of this role is to provide cleaning services to Derwentside IRC which includes office areas, residential areas, and outdoor areas.
Responsible for cleaning all areas within the Derwentside IRC estate using a variety of cleaning equipment and materials and to report any cleaning appliance faults promptly. You will also be responsible for ensuring that all Health and Safety procedures and regulations – COSHH
- are adhered to and be competent in the use of all chemicals and cleaning materials provided.This is a role in which requires excellent communication skills both verbal and written due to the variety of countabilities which also include the following:
- Working to tight timescales
- Complete assigned Tasks as per supervisor direction and /or checklist designation
- Sweep, scrub, Mop and wax floor surfaces
- Clear dust on all surfaces and in all areas
- Capable to lift supplies, equipment boxes etc using correct lifting techniques
- Dispose of waste from offices, activity areas, rooms and wings within Derwentside Immigration Removal Centre
- Replenish stock inventory
- Using the appropriate equipment to clean surfaces
- Working individually/Lone working and also working as part of a team
- Ensure all machines are clean and serviceable, reporting all faults and including tools and equipment
- Remove, clean and rehang window furniture(curtains)
- Ensure all cleaning reports are annotated correctly and returned to the cleaning supervisors/Managers
- Visibly demonstrate Serco values and work practices while completing duties
- Other related tasks relevant to this position as and when required.
