Are you looking for a temporary role over the seasonal period? If so we need you for our fixed term contract roles, working in our busy, state of the art warehouse looking after peak orders for our high end retail customer, The White Company!
We have a number of fixed term contract roles available, lasting until January 2025. You can expect a fast paced, busy warehouse with a culture of team work and success and lots of exciting engagement activities across the peak period.
Pay rates are £11.81 per hour plus shift premiums and overtime rates - equivalent addition of £2000 per annum for permanent night shifts and rotating shift premiums are also available.
You'll also be included in our peak incentive scheme which will give you the opportunity to take home a bonus as well as your basic and overtime pay!
The site operates a 5 from 7 shift pattern, rotating 06.00am - 14.00pm and 14.00pm - 22.00pm weekly.
There are also Nightshift opportunities - 22.00pm - 06.00am.
You'll be given your rota for the duration of your role with us after induction so that you can plan and prepare for your shifts well in advance.
Assessment:
When you apply for one of our fixed term contract roles you will be sent a link to our Thrivemap assessment, this is an online tool which gives you the opportunity to learn more about the role and to demonstrate your ability to do the role. If you successfully complete the assessment then a member of our recruitment team will be in touch to invite you to our site for a meet and greet session and to check your right to work documentation, if you are successful then your full job offer will follow alongside arrangements for your induction and first day.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Wincanton prioritise Safety above everything and so we need like-minded individuals who will ensure that safe working practices are adopted and observed at all times so as to ensure a safe working environment for everyone on site.
- Picking, inspecting and/or packing and recording to customers instructions using either electronic scanners or manual pick sheets.
- We need someone who works well as part of a team and can carry out warehouse tasks as directed
- Our customer is at the heart of what we do and why we do it, we need someone to ensure that the operation meets the customer service requirements and site KPIs by completing each function at the highest standard
- Someone accurate who can ensure pick accuracy is met as well as productivity rates
- The Wincanton way, someone who takes pride in our site at all times ensuring housekeeping and maintenance duties are fulfilled to maintain the site at its highest standard
- We invest in our people and need someone who is keen to learn and will undertake training when required
- Forward thinking, ensure appropriate action is taken to remove/reduce any significant risks or hazards and identify areas of improvement, or concern regarding the working environment
- To help work in a culture of continuous improvement to drive best-in-class activity and operational excellence.
- Someone people focussed and able to work collaboratively with colleagues in all areas of the site, underpinned by the Company values

Performance Measures:
- Accuracy: Perform and record tasks accurately
- Productivity: Complete tasks to the level as set by Team Leaders, Supervisors or Managers
- Timekeeping: Ensure punctuality and meet deadlines
- Effective communication skills: Must be able to communicate with Line Managers, Supervisors and Team Leaders any issues that may arise with the above duties which could result in a task not being carried out accurately
- Updates: Make sure up to date on Wincanton current policies, procedures and instructions via noticeboards
- Ensure that meet KPI’s as set by Line Managers on Picking & Packing
Skills & Experience:
- Basic English language skills
- GCSE level maths of advantageous
- Have knowledge of the various warehouse systems
- Able to work as part of a team as well as under own initiative
